ER cleaning for the wedding day?

Lauren25, 3 June, 2011 at 15:27 Posted on Planning 0 11

Is anyone doing this? Do you have to take it back to where you bought it from? Mine is looking quite dirty so think I would like it done for the day but not sure I have time to get to Brighton, just wondered if I could take it somewhere else?

I took mine to cleaned this week and it only took them 3 days - looks like new, so I'm very happy. ?

I took it back to where I got it from though, so can't help you in that sorry. x

The shop where I've bought my wedding ring from has said they'll clean my ER for me for free, even though its not their ring which I think is a lovely gesture! Would it be possible to do this depending on where you bought your wedding ring?

Other than that I'm sure you could take it in anywhere, or alternatively you can buy cleaning solution or a cleaning cloth and do it at home (although not sure if it would come up as clean as a professional job).

Thats not bad Trickers, I'm sure mine came with a life time clean thing so I think I may call them. I might just have to take a trip to where I got it. If the sun stays out I will make a day of it!

We bought ours from Smooch, they clean our WR's for life but not sure if they would do the ER as I bought it elsewhere.

I'm going to get mine replated rather than cleaned so that it really is like new.

I'd imagine any high-street shop jewellers would be able to do it, I am sure I read on Hitched somewhere that it could be done in an Ernest Jones while you wait.

Mine went for re-plating (its white gold) and my OH has picked it up for me today! I cant wait to get it back I have felt lost for the last two weeks!

I've just got to try and not dirty it too much in the next week so its all sparkly for the big day!

Ditto - mine is white gold and whilst it looks fine, it def looks less sparkly next to my new wedding ring so I am dropping it in to the jewellers tomorrow to be replated/cleaned... I have (sadly) bought a temporary replacement sparkler from M&S as I will feel lost without it and also I have my hen do next weekend and would feel a fraud without wearing a ring of some sort!! haha!!

I think I need to do this for next time as I really have missed my ring! But I guess once I'm married it wont matter as I'll still have a ring on my finger! My WR is palladium so I'm considering changing the band on my ER to palladium - not sure yet though! x

In my local jewellers I can get my (platinum) ring sent to me cleaned and the stone setting to be checked will be £22 and returned in 3 days

I recently popped into my local jewellers on a whim to get it cleaned and they did it there and then while I waited. I get mine really dirty all the time for some reason so I invested in a sonic jewellery cleaner from argos. It cost me 20 quid and it is amazing. I was worried it would not do as good a job as the jewelers but it is amazing. My OH keeps giving me his bits and bots to clean to. I would thoroughly reccommend buying one if jewellers in your area are charging for cleaning.

Hi Lauren, we got our WR from smooch and ER elsewhere but I am sure our smooch rep said they would clean and 'dip' the ER if we send it back with the WR at any point. Double check though with their helpline, or leave their rep on here a forum post to ask Smiley smile
