Evening Reception Idea!! - What do you think?

1234ABC, 20 July, 2011 at 10:22 Posted on Planning 0 18

How does this sound?

We’re planning on having a fireworks display at our evening reception. and because it’s in December, naturally it’s going to be very chilly outside.

So we thought it would be nice to hand out heart shaped hand warmers to guests as they go outside to watch the 5 minute display (these will be part of the evening favours), and when they come in they will be greeted with the evening buffet of Rolls on Bacon/Lorne Sausage/Vegetarian option, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate as the evening buffet.

I was also going to get some ear plugs for the little ones, and anyone else who might want to use them.

What do you think? Can you think of anything i might have missed, or have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

How about some cheap throws from Ikea to wrap up in about £1 each.

I had thought about some wraps for people, but we'll be handing out sparklers, and i didn't know if most people would just put their jackets on to go out anyway. But i might look into the ones in IKEA.

    Thanks!

Loads of heart shaped ones on eBay or pound shops are good for things like that.

Its a fab idea! Only thing I would say is I doubt the kids would wear the ear plugs.

I think you might be right littlemissbride! I wondered if ear muffs would be a good alternative? There will only be 4 kids that might need them.

    Thanks for the links ladies!

It is. And the first thing i asked them was - do you allow fireworks! and they were like "yes to fireworks, but no to flying laterns"

I've spoken to one company (21cc fireworks) who have been really fantastic in their correspondance. They even told us of a wedding they were doing that we went along to to see what sort of display we would get for £800 which was amazing. Their packages start at £400 but it depends on what your looking for.

We put aside £1000 for them, although i think we'll probably only have an £800 display like the one we saw.

If you google the company, you'll get much more information.

Lovely idea!!! If you are going to make a big thing of it you could have a little hot chocolate 'station' with marshmallows, chocolate shavings, cream etc.
