Ex partners

HatTrick, 21 January, 2012 at 19:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 35

Do you ever look back at your exes and wonder what the heck you were doing?

There's a good 8 months or so of my life that I honestly would quite happily erase. I cringe if I ever think of that particular ex. Worra minger!!

I am sure however, that when they think of me they kick themselves for ever letting me escape ?

Oh yes I do, my first 3 boyfriends! Even the guy before my now fiance, I really wonder why I stayed with him as long as I did ... but I'm so happy now.

    Of course :-)

Yes! I myself am no stunner but my last serious-ish boyfriend before Mr R was a horror. Several people who I introduced him to gave me the "really?!" look, but obviously didn't say anything until I'd broken up with him. *shudders*

Haha yep - All the time! I would happily erase all my exes from memory permanently. A couple because with hindsight they were pretty rough (what on earth was I thinking!), and the rest because they were ar5eholes!

Haha! Not that they were all Ryan Reynolds lookalikes or anything. They were all alright though and all genuinely nice people!

Absolutley, except I wish I could say it was only 8 months worth! I actually knew H2B when I was with my ex but things never developed until after - guess you could say some things are worth waiting for ❤️

My mum would kill me for that. She's forever trying to convince people that she's my sister... Not sure that would work quite so well if I had a bf the same age as her.

A wise mummy you have there Vix. Mine used to ask me straight out what the hell I was doing with such a Fugley character which of course made me want to marry them rather than dump them.

    All the time.

My first BF looked like Rick Moranis from Honey I shrunk the kids- truley vile.

The rest have been been various stages of odd - there was the man 7 years older than me who lived in a camper van, the boy 5 years younger who was, well still a child it felt like, the one in the band who loved drugs and himself far more than me (i was of course pathetically smitten)

    I have pants choice.

My dad always used to joke that my ex looked like Beaker from the Muppets. I totally see it now! Really cannot for the life of me remember what I saw in him - even personality-wise he's just so vain and pathetic.

I had an ex who was very controlling and emotionally abusive. He lived in America (had previously gone to my secondary school) and I spent sooo much money phoning him, on flights back and forth etc. It was a nightmare. He used to make me sleep with the webcam on me so he could check I wasn't up to anything I shouldn't be. When he was in the UK everyone from our school would go to the same pub and he would ask me to wait outside for a few minutes so we weren't seen arriving together! Then he'd flirt with other girls and claim I was crazy if I mentioned to anyone we were a couple.

In my defence I was 18 and had cripplingly low self-esteem, he took advantage and brainwashed me. Unlucky for him I eventually saw the light and ended up hurting him quite badly. He bloody deserved it though. Creep.

Oh good grief yes....my first "starter" husband (lasted about a year) turned out to be a very nasty piece of work, causing me a great deal of physical and emotional damage, culminating in two attempts to kill me!!

    FAIL (on all accounts)

    PS I'm over it now!

The bloke I thought (at the time) was the love of my life has been confirmed by several people as looking remarkably like Dr Evil!

Eurgh, my last ex still gives me the icky shudders now, five years later. I have nightmares about him sometimes too. He was just the most awful, disgusting and horrible. Why I wasted three years of my teenage years on him I will never know. I don't think I even liked him that much, I just got involved and then couldn't get out again. D and I saw him in Morrisons last summer with his new girlfriend and he tried to catch my eye but I resolutely ignored him and pretended he wasn't there. He looked so mad! It made me feel much better.

All my other exes are looked back on with some fondness though. Teenage love life and all that. None were bad guys, just typical teenage boys.

I thought this the other day when looking at some of my old pics.

My first serious boyfriend always wore a dress, and more make up than me. I'd have to phone him to ask what he was wearing so we wouldn't clash, or worse - wear the same thing ?
