Eyebrows - threading or waxing...

Cheesecake Factory, 27 September, 2008 at 19:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

..which is the least painful? I've had my eyebrows waxed before and although not exactly fun, it was bearable. Has anyone had threading done and how painful is it?

I've had both done hundreds of times and I much prefer waxing. I find threading very painful, it takes a while and often I bleed a bit afterwards. With waxing it's all done in seconds.

I have had both done. Waxing is less painful as it's over so quickly. However, it does make my skin all red and puffy for a few hours afterwards.

The last time I got my eyebrows threaded, I cried it hurt so much. ?

Another vote for waxing. I found threading extremely painful.

I don't find either very painful. Is that odd? I have someone at work do my threading for me and it's really quick and easy. You have to make sure you pull your skin very taut though- that really helps.

I find threading very painful too, so I would go with waxing.

I found threading much more painful than waxing, and it took ages as well. However, someone at work does threading (on herself) and one of the women was done by her and said it hurt much less than getting it done at one of those brow bars, so maybe it depends on who does it?

I tried it as the last time I had mine professionally waxed, the girl burnt me and it has left a scar.

If I don't find tweezing painful will I find threading painful? I never realised tweezing was supposed to be painful till Lodger Girl (will have to think of something else to call her now she's moved out ?) said something - it's never hurt me in the slightest.

Ouch, the word threading makes my eyes water, so surely that has to be more painful!

With waxing if they use nice and warm wax I find it find. Some places though it isnt as warm and it hurts a bit more. But the tweezing afterward for the stray hairs, ouch ?

Thanks everyone, I'm a total wimp so will probably just stick with what I know, i.e waxing. I hate using tweezers as it takes so long and I find the process agonising. It makes me shout at the mirror.

I've not tried threading (and going on everyone else's experiences i'll not be bothering) but i have had them waxed. It doesn't hurt much and is over very quickly, also one it's done i find it easier to keep on top of things with my tweezers.

WDoobyS - threading sounds slow and painful - at least waxing is over quickly.

Threading-everytime. Yes, it's more painful than waxing, but imo the result is far better.

I just pluck. With Tweezers. Then colour in as necessary.

Why is threading supposed to be better than waxing then? I've only had mine waxed once as usually I use tweezers. I was told by the lady who did the waxing that with most people one side is more sensitive and so hurts more than the other side.

I really would like mine waxed again sometime as I've lost some of the definition, however it was painful and I looked like someone had punched me in both eyes ?

I'll often have my eyebrows waxed - I find it best when they use 'hot wax' that doesn't need paper to get it off - with the paper stuff I get very swollen and red for a few hours afterwards, with hot wax more like half an hour.

I had them threaded on impulse a couple of months ago - there was a counter offering it in Debenhams just at the bottom of the escalator I was about to go up, so I went for it (despite having a toddler slung to my chest). I didn't think it was particularly more painful than waxing and the result was certainly as good as waxing. I did come out in a very strange full body allergic reaction about an hour afterwards but I'm not sure if that was linked to the threading or not.

I have my threaded, and find it so much better than waxing.plus it is cheaper i pay £3.50 for threading compared to £6 for waxing.I think my eyes look so much better.

The lady who does it offer's threading all over,i am not sure i would like my bikini line threaded.

My daughter prefers to get her eyebrows waxed though.

I've had both done and don't find either hurts any more than the other. The plus with waxing is it is over so much quicker, but when I had mine threaded I didn't have to endure tweezers afterwards which was a plus

I've had both done, but much prefer threading to waxing. It gives a much better definition and shape, and I don't get the redness that occurs with waxing. With threading they can tidy up the brow far more accurately than with waxing, and can get stray hairs far better.

I have a Balinese girl do mine, and she is fabulous - very quick and I find it doesn't hurt much at all if you pull the skin very taut.

    WhatImeldaSaid.

I got into it about 3 years ago. I was working in East london when I noticed how most of the Bangladeshi women in my then team, had such fabulous, defined brows. They told me about threading, and pointed me in the direction of an Asian beauty parlour on the highstreet, and I came away with perfect brows and as a residual effect, a mini upper facelift -I kid ye not! all for the princely sum of a fiver. From then on, I was converted.
