Family Holidays in Turkey...AI or not AI?

Rod, 4 January, 2012 at 14:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Hey peeps - anyone got any reccommendations for Turkey with 2 kids? (9 and 12)

We have a shortlist and have worked out that for an extra £300 ish, we can go All Inc...is it worth it?

Thanks!

    Hey,

we've been to alanya in antalya which was lovely! also been to kusadasi which we didn't like so much!

personally if you can go AI i think it's worth it, the amount of money spent on drinks in the evening alone adds up! i guess it depends on how much time u think u will spend in the hotel?

Only been once, about an hour away from Bodrum in Turgutries. We were self catering, it was cheap enough for us as Turkey are not in the euro...

I loved Turkey, the weather was fab and the people were just lovely.

When we went Turkey was pretty cheap, a someone said its not in the euro, so depends on if you would prefer to spend time around your hotel or try other places. I always try and avoid AI as I like to try different places and things and tend to find that the food you get in the AI hotels is not very authentic but I am a bit of a foodie geek!

We have stayed here as well and we went through lowcostholidays.com - worked out at £400 each for two weeks bed and breakfast. The prices for food and drink were good - we stayed on beer for most of it.

We were thinking AI just cos of the kids, drinks throughout the day and snacks etc all add up. We have found some great deals that would only be £300 more than self catering and we would still go off resort for the food and markets etc. I'm a bit of a foodie geek too, but this holiday is more for the kids, not us!

    Ha! not really! ?

We went to Mexico for our honeymoon which was amazing. I have no illusions that turkey will be the same haha! But like you say, with fussy eaters and wasted food etc, Its gotta be worth it for the kids. When we went to Mauritius it was similar, more full board than all inclusive, but the main pull is the resorts, theyre all big and have waterslides and kids clubs etc, Plus turkey is hot so I can get a week in the sun!

Any other suggestions would be welcomed but we dont want to spend a fortune.

I have kids the same age as yours and we're going AI when we go to Crete this year, I have never seen my son so excited - 'What? So I can eat as much as I want?'

Is it for a week or two?

Even at 1 week, that's still only £10 ish a day extra each which would cover drinks if nothing else? So all your drinks / snacks are covered all day at the hotel and you're not then really losing anything if you go out for dinner still.

We went AI in turkey last year at Xanadu hotel - I didn't want to having done AI in Greece and Spain but OH insisted and it was fantastic. Branded drinks, fab buffet and 5 Al a Carte restaurants. We're looking at going back with kids this year specifically to Antalya or Belek as we know these have some fab resorts (golfing orientated)

Yes, so Mrs C has already said. ?

These random spammers are more irritating than the blatant ones!

To the OP... I prefer to go AI as I like the ease of not having to worry about food/drink costs and would definitely go AI if I were taking children.
