FAO tall brides

greenbean, 30 December, 2011 at 19:19 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi all

Triggered by discussions on recent threads I have been reflecting on the shoes I have purchased for the big day. I nearly always wear flats and my OH is ALWAYS bugging me to wear heels. I don't get excited by shoes but found a pair of heels which I loved in the sale so I bought them. Problem is I am only an inch or two shorter than OH so I become a couple of inches taller with them on. Do you think I should wear flats? We might regret it in the photos! I just don't know. What are other tall brides doing?

I'm 5ft10 and OH is 5ft 9. I'm wearing 1 inch wedge heels. Mainly because I live in flat shoes and can't walk in heels. I'm not fussed by the difference and our church and reception venue have plenty of scope for photos that involve steps and sitting down! In the ones outside the church i don't think many people will notice a height difference as you will look amazing in your dress, they'll be looking at that instead!

    Hey,

I'm 5ft 10 & my hubby to be is 6ft 1, personally i didn't want to be taller than him so i bought

some small heels, about 1 1/2 and stood next to him with his shoes on, mens shoes do have a small heel too so I am still shorter, just depends on what you feel comfortable in really Smiley winking

I am not too sure what type of shoes i want yet as i want comfort as well as a lil bit of glam so think kitten type heels. I have been refraining to look at shoes just yet as i haven't had a first fitting yet and so don't know what the length is like as to what height i will get away with. I think i will stay away from heels all together though as i tend to get sore feet and walk like a duck if they are over a certain height lol. So flats or kitten heel are a must for me.

Tracy2012- If you don't mind me asking where did you get your shoes from they sound ideal. Do you have any photo's to flash plz x

I wouldn't think people would notice, I have the other problem I'm a lot shorter and have a 4 inch heel but a one inch sole wedge so I can actually walk in them. I think the most important thing is to be comfortable as if your not I would have thought this would be more noticable.

Hey butterflystar...well the bridal shops i went to said they are made to fit 5ft 10 however that's without shoes! I am 5ft 10, they are adding a few inches on as my heels are 1 1/12 inches and i really dont like it when dresses look too short!

I'm the same size as OH so wanting to just get some very small kitten heels or something, but that's easier said than done. I'm really not into shoes and doubt I would wear them again so wouldn't want to spend a lot on them so finding a nice pair for a good price is pretty difficult. I would go for a small heel over complete flats as I think they tend to be much prettier.

I am 6ft and OH is 6'6'ish but I am still not wearing massive heels, just little 1.5cm kitten ones as I can't walk in high heels after a lifetime of flats!

I'm 6ft 3 and I'll be looking for flats and I'm really hoping I can find a nice pair.

OH is 6ft 5 so I could go for a little kitten heel if I struggle to find nice flats.

I am wearing flats! Im 5"9 and OH is 5"8 - I have serious paranoia about this anyway and HATE being taller than he is, so I am wearing shoes that are as flat as a pancake and he will be wearing some with the biggest heel he can get away with without getting funny looks!

My opinion is that unless you have a tea length dress, no one sees your shoes anyway, so nobody would know if you have flipflops or 6" heels on under there.

Go with what you feel comfortable with, I think I will be having enough trouble walking around in the dress all day and trying not to destroy my hair do or smudge my makeup, without throwing heels into the mix.

Which ever you feel most relaxed about!
