Favours. What are you all having?

Sophie-Leighan, 14 May, 2010 at 14:22 Posted on Planning 0 35

As the title says ladies, what are you all having for ur favours?

We have talked through so many things and completely can't decide!

We want something a bit different ie not almonds but also pretty low cost!

We are having a buffet instead of a sit down meal so wont really have a table plan as such so won't be putting the favours on each place setting, cos there wont be any place settings lol.

I've thought about doing a sweet buffet as its very 'me' as I love sweeties! but have heard it can work out quite expensive with all the things u need!

Pleeeeease help me ladies! xxx

Personally I'm not bothering, a couple of the weddings I've been to alot have been left behind and it seems like a waste to me

However, what I did see the other day, which I thought would be slightly different was FORTUNE cookies Smiley smile Can get them for about 15p each!

Hey Jackie - I'm of the same mind - I never tend to notice them so I'm making paper fortune cookies with inspirational quotes from movies in them (Jumbly Boy is a film buff)!

We're also having a sweetie buffet. Jumbly boy sourced the sweets and TBH it wasn't that expensive at all.

I am getting organza bags, you can get them VERY cheap at the obvious places, think mine cost £6 for 100.

And then i am getting tins of Miniture heroes nearer the time which are usually £5 per tin. So mine shouldnt cost more then £20 really.

I am also having a sweet buffet and doing it very cheaply, hopefully about £40. And a chocolate fountain

Not sure if we're having favours. We're hoping to have some of OH's Granny's homemade tablet for with coffee and OH fancies mini bottles of whiskey so I've delegated that task to him ?

Furtune cookies is a pretty good idea! I don't actually like fortune cookies tho so probs wont work too much lol. I'm tempted to go for a sweet buffet as desert is going to be our cake so its like a little extra desert and favours all mixed into one lol. Plus I will be in my element. mmm sweeties! But I still feel like I want to do individual favours! ?

We bought Cancer Research pins (£1 each) and some organza bags, made a backing card that read something like "To celebrate the marriage of X and Y on 27 November 2009 a donation has been made in your honour to Cancer Research UK", pinned the pins onto the card and put them in the organza bags. We were concerned about the prospect of spending a lot on favours and for them just to be left on the tables but this way we didn't mind, since the money would have gone to charity and therefore not "wasted" IYSWIM.

I know Cancer Research will print personalised cards for you and probably other charities will as well if there's a particular charity that means a lot to you. Ours went down really well and I think most of the ladies at least had theirs pinned to their coats when they left.

What about doing 10p mixes for everyone?? You could just buy some stripey or white paper bags from ebay and get a big tub of sweets either off the internet or if you know anyone with a costco or macro card, this would only be about £15, then you could put a handful of sweets in bags at place setting? Would look very cute, a bit different from doing a buffet, lots cheaper, and make lovely, personal favours seen as you are a 'sweetie girl'!

We want to have a mix cd as our favour - of our 'wedding songs' as we both really love our music and our relationship has sort of been built on gigs! But not sure if it's practical to print so many on the computer?! If we can't we'll prob do personalised chocolate bars, though I love the fortune cookies....Decisions... I also heard of someone on here giving mini bottles of wine with personalised labels - don't know how they did it but they said it was cheap - bought the wines themselves and labels off the net I think!

My idea (though haven't asked them yet!) is that because both my mum and OH's mum make, respectively, marmalade and honey, I would like to ask each of them to fill a small jam jar per guest with their homemade produce, then we will print off personalised labels & put one of each on each place at the reception. I hope they'll like the idea & be willing to do it as it would mean a lot to us!

My H2B used to work at the Woolworth's head office in London and so was one of the many people to lose his job when the company went into administration. As he liked working there a lot and made lots of friends there we're doing Pick N Mix as the favours. Found some genuined Woollies Pick N Mix bags on eBay and will be putting some sweets in each of the bags for the guests. We're bulk buying the sweets from Costco.

I'd forgotten about the 'just married' love hearts! I want some of those too, as well as blank CDs with a little sleeve asking our guests to take them home, upload their photos of our wedding day and send them back to us.

This is a cheaper way of doing the "love hearts" Then you can get the hearts from Bookers or Makro and do them yourself!

I'm thinking about having personalised sticks of rock and sweets made. No a cheap option, but I hope that people will just eat them and not forget them. I want to use the rock sticks as favours and then put a bowl of the sweets by the guest book. Hopefully people will go for the sweets and sign the book.

I made wine charms for the the guests
and engraved ones for the wedding party not sure if you can see from the picture but the words bride, groom bestman etc were engraved. The charms were on the glasses with organza bags and tags on the table saying 'The wine charm around your glass is a little thank you for attending our wedding day. Handmade with love by the bride' x

I'm having edinburgh rock as my favours in little organza bags that my mum has insisted on making. ? She showed me a mockup one when i went back to Scotland the otherweek and they were really pretty. She's managed to find miniature roses and thistles to tie with the ribbon. Looks very pretty. Rose for OH as he is English and thistle for me as I'm Scottish.

Mrs C have a look on ebay for charms, crystals and the rings. You'll need pliers as well for the ends. Don't just buy the cheapest rings though as the coating flakes off and looks pants. Tons of different charms on ebay you can use. x

We have just started making ours, we bought 8oz jam jars and my uncle runs a pick ur own farm so he has kindly given us our fruit to make the jam with. Our theme in monochrome with a splash of red. So chose strawberry jam with a black/white gingham fabric with own guests name as the tag. Favour and place setting in one ?
