We went and got the ring (and a proper adventure-slash-palaver it was too) and finally are officially engaged!
I've been so impatient, wanting to tell everyone (and in fact probably have told everyone!) despite a lack of proposal and visible lack if ring, so this is just great. And I can't wait to tell his mum, she's going to be thrilled. I didn't realise I'd get so antsy but most of the main wedding stuff is booked, I'm so happy and excited, I just want to be able to chat about it. Keeping it a secret is not fun!!
It turned out to be the most unromantic proposal in the world but the day had been so special from start to finish and he knew I wanted to be wearing the ring before I go off on hols (without him!) in 2 days so he's totally forgiven for there being no planning/staging. We had tickets to the V&A during the day to see the Hollywood Costume exhibition and we're both huge film fans, plus one of our first dates saw us travel in to London and we had a great time there, and have lovely muffin-memories! We had trawled Hatton Garden and I became despondent because my self-imposed budget wasn't buying enough and he took me away for a while and convinced me to quit with the money-guilt and we extended our budget by about 400%. He was so lovely and sweet and very perceptive and gentle, I cried in Costa coffee haha! We returned late in the day at Hatton Garden (5pm) and they put our stone in to the ring I wanted and we left at 5.45, with ring, and had drinks in a gorgeous little French wine bar to celebrate. We talked about how we met, and how we felt, and how darned happy we are! Then last night we were at Stand Up For Pudsey which was an absolutely fantastic end to a great day and once home, tired and damp at 1am, he got on one knee... I said Yes
