Fireworks

Kat44, 4 April, 2011 at 20:53 Posted on Planning 0 25

If I remember right, someone here had fireworks at their reception recently (Trickers??).

If you don't mind me asking, could you tell me how much they cost and who you used for them please? (or any other firework company recommendations please)

TIA

Not sure where you are based but there is a company called Kimbolton Fireworks that are meant to be really good and do nationwide coverage. Unfortunately due to being near an active RAF flying base we arent allowed fireworks ☹️

I'll have a look at them thanks Mrs T2B.

Ooh that sounds a good price Trickers, the only place we've looked at so far was £600 for a 4 minute display.

We've booked Highlight (www.highlightpyro.co.uk). It is quite expensive, but my OH loves them and they are going to be his surprise.

We're getting married on Bonfire Night. The current plan is for sparkers....

Fireworks are expensive (but we both love them!), and hiring in pro's to safely manage the display will simply be too expensive for us.

You really do need to spend a lot on a Pro to get a good show that lasts some time

This was one of the finale shots from a show that lasted 12 mins. There were risk assessments, noise assessments and site visits & cleanup visit. The whole thing was done in the driving rain, and the show was awsome

Moot point anyway really. Realised last night I hadn't checked with the venue so I asked them and they said fireworks weren't allowed due to the surrounding farmland.

    really gutted ☹️

Oooh I wonder if I suggest that I will ask the neighbouring farmers permission whether they'd go for it!! (tbh, its just loads of fields, no farmhouse or animals for miles!)

I know it's not a necessity (sp?) but it was one of those things I'd dreamed of having, and I'd even just managed to persuade OH it would be lovely!

oh well, saved us a few quid I spose.

Aw that's a bummer Kat, my father was going to get us a display as a present, but I asked the venue and they are not allowed as it is a conservation area ☹️

I might just send her a cheeky email. see if I can contact them, doesn't hurt to ask I guess does it, thank you Smiley smile

Claire - tbh I know it was a bit daft but I never even thought to ask! I just assumed with all that space, it would be fine!

I might have to just sit round my mums on the day after and watch yours out the window! ? ?

Thanks Claire!! Might be in bed then though lol as we've got to be at Gatwick for 4am lol!

Just asked about getting farmers permission but they said venue decided no a while ago and are staying by that decision.

End of story now then. *sigh*

    Yeah it is, Claire.

I do love it and know my day will still be perfect but I really am disappointed! should've asked before getting my hopes up I guess!

One of the venue's that we were looking at had the license or whatever they need to display fireworks and they set them off in tune with your first dance song - was really impressive when they showed us the demo but REALLY Expensive

There is a cool alternative - Fire eaters. I was sceptical, but having seen some over the weekend for a bride in exactly the same scenario - I was pretty blown away with how good they were. The interaction with the crowd was very very good too!

If your on a tight budget you really need to find someone as local as possible. If you find someone 100 miles away that's a 200 mile round trip that they've got to pay out for on deisel etc. So it will affect your show.

If your having a winter wedding opt for a shorter display, say 3 to 4 minutes. It will give you a great high impact display with plenty of WOW factor, but wont be long enough for you and your guests to freeze to death!

To find someone local, try a google search for firework display companies in the town that your having your reception, use the map feature to see how local they actually are.
