Yes, the little delights prearranged online to chant 'Murderers' during the moment of silence (as the announcer called it, so the silence could be stopped before the minute was up if needed) because LFC said before the season had even started that they couldn't play on the 15th of April as they would be attending the annual Hillsborough Memorial Service at Anfield and as a result Chelski had less time before they played Barcelona - a game they went on to win.
a) the chanting during the minute's silence for the 96.
b) Booing Anton Ferdinand every time he got the ball - because he accused someone who we already know is a vile human being of a racist comment.
c) Because when I, a girl, was coming home from the game on Sunday, on my own, a group of about ten Chelsea fans started shouting swearing and laughing at me. Yes, my football team's performance was laughable, but I'm a girl by myself. Have a bit of respect.
I'd be inclined to say Chelsea will win but I'd rather it was Liverpool (my nephew is a Liverpool fan too and he is so disappointed when they lose stuff like this!). I really detest the way Chelsea play, they don't play proper football, its all about diving and free kicks etc,
2. Torres didn't play and seemed more bothered about his Spanish flag after they won than anything to do with Chelsea. After the match, he spent 20 minutes in our dressing room and swapped shirts with Reina. I don't think he likes being at Chelsea.
I personally think KK will leave and am expecting an announcement any day/
A maximum of four teams from any one country can be entered into the Champions League competition, they're the rules, so if Chelsea win it then only spots 1-3 will get CL places.
All teams know that rule at the start of the year, which is why finishing in the Top 3 should always be the aim, in case an English team who finish outside the Top 3 do win it (which is obviously the case here).
As a Leeds fan (yeah I know, I know, poor me), none it effects me, and probably never will again!
I would make it unfairer by changing the rules and saying that each year the fourth spot goes to the FA Cup winners. At least that way, teams will take the Cup more seriously and teams will have a better chance of getting into the Champions League.
If Chelsea go on to win the CL and as they've already won the FA Cup, they would get a place and so would the top two teams plus the runners up in the FA Cup. If Chelsea don't win the CL, fourth place would go to the team in third.
My "own" team has already qualified, although I would have sympathy for Newcastle if they end up 4th and for a few days be in a qualifying position until possibly being replaced by a team that finished below them in the league. Rules are rules, although you would have to feel empathy with their fans who for a few short days believed that they were in the CL.
As a Newcastle fan we will be over the moon with 5th never mind 4th or 3rd, the way we have played this season has been a joy to watch. Despite the fact it could do us out of a champions league place i think it would be more unfair to not allow the winners of the champions league to defend their title. Saying that i believe the champions league should be just that for the league champions not the champions + 3 non champions.
If we finish 4th i fully expect Chelsea to win the champions league, but years of watching us play has made more keen to wait for certainty rather than expect sucess.
I do agree with you, BowlingBride, on that point. I've said that to H for years that the CL should be purely for Champions. H just replies that it's all to do with money so why would it be changed?
ETA - as a football fan in general, it has been lovely to watch Newcastle's performances - I did fear they might struggle when they were promoted and get dragged into the relegation battle but they've been class.
Selling the likes of Nolan and Barton seemed to be pure madness, however credit must go to our scouting network the work they've done has been amazing. No sane person would have predicted we'd do this well.
I would have liked to see them get a draw yesterday...then again I am biased, and a couple of points lost for MC would have made the final day of the league a bit more interesting.
After this weekend, Barton is not exactly in my good books. But there's something about him that makes me not want QPR to get rid of him. I just wish he would sort his temper issues.
Don't think we'll be able to so I think we're gonna have to work with him to improve his anger management issues!
Thing that upsets me most, is that he has a son. He's even more of a role model now and to behave like that at of one of the most watched football matches in history is, well, sheer madness. I hope his poor boy never sees that.
I think Balotelli and Kompany should both be punished though... You watch the footage and see both of them approach him for no reason at all.
I used to think the same when he was at newcastle but i've started to think he's beyond help, the number of chances hes had and he never changes. The worst thing is if you follow him on twitter he doesn't appear to think he's done anything wrong. I don't think he should be allowed on a football pitch at the highest level again thats not the influence we need in football, hes had his chances to change.
As for balotelli and kompany if you saw someone assalt one of your team mates would you not approach him too. I can remember if they reacted in any other way but to approach him, were they like others not trying to tell him to calm down before he got into any more trouble.
Kompany, I can see, he's the City captain so he's well within his rights to get involved.
Balotelli, on the other hand, had absolutely no right or need to come storming off the bench and start shouting his mouth off. He isn't as bad as Barton by any stretch of the imagination although I do think he is also a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic.
Where are you hearing that? I heard last he'd gone over to US to convince them to keep him - hope the rumour about getting Martinez is untrue though...
Hmm, looking that way, isn't it. Glad Martinez is hopefully staying at Wigan - he's not who I'd want as Liverpool manager. Has Rafa still got his Merseyside home, I wonder?
Rafa led LFC in to the wilderness after they were a top 4 club for years. Bargepoles spring to mind. And I am a Man Utd supporter. Finishing 35 or so points below the league winners will take a shedload of turning around the team. How do you feel about "The Special One" as your manager?
