Fridges

Storky, 20 May, 2011 at 10:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Ok, so not the most exciting topic ever but my fridge started making a noise yesterday. It's a constant rattling that's quite loud. I'm thinking it's probably not a good thing.

Any suggestions or is it time for a new fridge/freezer? It's really annoying me as my office is next door to the kitchen and it's all I can hear!

Have you kicked it?? and switched it off and on again? that is usually my first attampt at DIY, failing that see if anything seems loose as that would make it rattle

We've got a Liebherr and I love it. It's got stacks of space inside.

Though it's currently being used as our 2nd fridge in the garage as it won't fit in our kitchen ☹️

Is it a fridge or a fridge-freezer? If it's a combined then the freezer bit might need defrosting - mine gets a bit raspy when the door is struggling to shut because of the ice build up ?

Our Fridge/Freezer did this before Christmas. My Husband panicked and bought a new one thinking it must be about to die on us! Needless to say, it stopped making the noise and is still going strong! It's in the garage now as our spare (alcohol!!) fridge!

So no help with why its making the noise but it may just be one of those things and not necessarily mean that its on its last legs.

Thanks, ladies, completely forgot about this!

Fridge has been kicked and, if anything, it's worse. Still seems to be keeping things cold though. I've dealt with it by keeping the door shut so I can't hear it!

Mine makes some strange noises, the fuller it is the louder it is...

There are a few things that help ours for little bursts at a time... making sure the feet are level on the ground, checking that there is no dust in the vents on the back, defrosting the freezer...

They all sound like blue jobs to me. I shall get the husband on it this weekend.
