Gatwick express

Flowery the Grouch, 9 February, 2009 at 13:47 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Am heading to London for the day next Monday, and probably flying into Gatwick - how easy is the whole gatwick express thing? Is it easy to find? is the station far from the airport? or is it all really well integrated?

And is anyone free for lunch? ?

#Gatwick Express, you must confess, are you real, yes or no?#

Simple as - train station is underneath the South Terminal and it's very easy to get to. Trains run very frequently and you can buy a ticket on the train which helps too.

Easy peasy. Its well sign posted. Jump on a train (don't worry about a ticket, you can pay onboard) they come every 15 minutes but the train is always there waiting IYKWIM. 20-25 mins into Victoria.

Very easy - just follow the signs for trains, head down the escalators - Gatwick Express runs from two platforms and there's a flashing sign to tell you which train will be the next to leave. They run every 15 mins. Horribly expensive, but efficient.

It's simple to get between the 2 terminals. And it's well signposted.

Once you're in the south terminal follow the signs for the station (you arrive next to the station anyway). The trains are every 15 minutes (between 0500 and about midnight) and it takes 30 minutes to Victoria.

Also very easy - there's a monorail which links the two.

You can also just get on a normal train into central London (Southern or First Capital Connect). It takes about 5 mins more but a lot cheaper.

Was going to say the same as R-A - get the normal Thameslink towards Brighton wich stops at Gatwick. Not sure which way you're coming in to London, but if you end up at London Bridge, Kings Cross/St Pancras it also saves you a journey on the underground as you can get it direct.
