glasgow venues

anvilsprincess, 18 October, 2010 at 20:35 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi everyone hoping someone can help me. I am being a wee bit premature with this as my lovely man is still saving for an engagement ring but we have been to a few weddings this year and have been talking about ours and what we would like. The thing is we have 2 dogs and my partners parents have a dog they are very important to us and we would like to have evryone we love at our wedding but would need the venue to be close enough for someone to be able to travel back to feed and walk the dogs sometime through the day. My partner would love an outdoors wedding but i have no idea about venues within Glasgowpreferably outdoors. I live in the southside of glasgow and could possibly travel anywhere within Glasgow any help would be sooooo appreciated.

Thanks

Anvils Princess ?

    Hi,

Would you put the dogs into the kennels for just one night? My parents did that with their 2 cats and dog because it wasn't fair on them to be left over night and also because the animals would have been stressed out with everything going on in the house. We managed to ask a neighbour to feed our own cats on the wedding night and she was coming to the reception only which saved us putting them into the cattery as well. x

Sloan-R I didn't realise you are in Scotland. I may have to crash your wedding just to see that beautiful dress in real life

Hi Anvils's Princess, welcome to Hitched ?. We are getting married at Ross Priory in 2012. They have a cottage which you can rent in the grounds and they allow dogs in it. Could be a good idea as it is close by for someone to pop back and give them a quick walk Smiley smile

One Devonshire Gardens in the West End allow dogs and they also have 2 outdoor terraces you could get married on. Although I think you could only do this if you had a humanist celebrant, rather than a registrar, as ODG doesnt have a civil licence for outside weddings but with humanist they dont need an outdoor licence (I think!) ?

Having filmed in many Glasgow Venues, the best that come to mind for an outdoor ceremony around your area is 1) Sherbrooke Castle (Stunning venue, my parents had their reception there 40 years ago and my sis got married there 6 years ago. One of my favourite Wedding venues.) 2) Dalmeny Park (Is ideal for an outdoor Wedding. I filmed an outdoor wedding there in the Summer and it was amazing. A great venue and worth checking out if you aren't already aware of it. 3) House for an Artlover- Another amazing venue set in amazing surroundings. All 3 venues are well run and the staff cannot do enough to help. Whatever you choose, best wishes when the day comes Smiley smile
