Gym help for a lurker please......

MRSJAN66, 3 August, 2009 at 16:52 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Afternoon.......I hope you don't mind my first 'proper' post on here being a question.

I'm going to the gym for the first time tonight, have bought my tracksuit bottoms ready. My question though is about eating, If I'm due at the gtm for my induction at half past 6 and want to do a workout afterwards, what sort of time should I be eating my tea?

Can anyone suggest a good meal to have before I go? I've lost 2 1/2 stone since February and have just bought myself a pair of size 6 -8 joggers when I was wearing a size 14, but my food intake is very, very limited so I'm open to suggestions...

Thank you.

That's an incredible weight loss - well done!

WRT food, I'd probably hold off on eating until you get home - maybe eat a banana beforehand for some energy, but anything else is likely to slow you down and make you feel heavy.

WSS. If you've had lunch you'll be fine - as it's your first time I'm sure you won't have a particularly punishing workout. Just make sure you have something quick ready for supper.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I'm a recent gym convert and find that if I don't eat before going I struggle, so always have a banana or half a simple sandwich before heading off about half an hour before I actually start excercising hard. If your induction is like mine was it will be a basic walk-through of the equipment.

    Good luck!

Thanks ladies.....have decided I need something before I go so am going to have a warm chicken and fresh pineapple tortilla wrap now, that should be ok shouldn't it?

And thank you for the lovely comments. I was so pleased when my friends took the 10-12 joggers off me today and made me try on the 6-8s.

Don't do what I just did and chow down on a handful of Greek style olives pre-exercise. A little bit of sick popped up on my uphill running section. I've just got in and feel ?
