Handmade invitations

FutureBright, 30 May, 2012 at 12:25 Posted on Planning 0 25

I was wondering if anyone had made their own invitations. My MIL2B's hobby is crafts and has offered to make the invitations her self, I have collected a few samples from internet but there is only so much she can do to the invitations. I know by doing the handmade invitations it will save a bit of money.

Could anyone flash pics of their handmade stationary for some inspiration or give any tips to what they did?

Any help would be appreciated

My dad made ours, he just used the computer and a graphics programme - they were lovely. They didn't have anything fancy stuck to them (like I would do if I were doing them myself now) but they did the purpose and yes saved an enormous amount of money because they were made rather than bought

Here are mine, I designed and printed them myself, and used pre-cut card from PDA card and craft.

I designed the monograms then had them made into rubber stamps. Each invitation was hand embossed with the Mr&Mrs on the front and our initials on the back.

The wallets were from The Handcrafted Card Company. Inserts were designed myself then printed by a printing company.

Thanks ladies all flashes were great I suppose we can do anything if we put our minds to it.

Obviously with handmade items it feels more personal and adds a bit of personality to the wedding.

    Thanks Again

Wow Aurora - these are really beautiful.

Kharv, I LOVE yours - so simple but really luxe looking.

I made my own STDs - little 'parcel' style things, I must get round to flashing them one of these days.

I am sort of making my invitations, we are going to make little packages (similar to STDs) with brown parcel paper and string, with little gifts inside, a wedding teatowel etc etc. We will also include a personalised letter inviting each of our guests to attend and letting the know all of the details of the day.

I am making handmade recycled paper for the outers and then printing the inserts on plain white A5 paper and then trimming with a ribbon in our colour scheme. The outers are quite rugged and rough but that's part of the appeal!

Will flash as soon as i have made some!

I am looking at the same invitation pockets! Did you stick your actual invitation down? I would prefer the pockets for all the various inserts I plan to have but am a tad worried about actually securing the invitation, especially if I have to stick it down, I can imagine it being all wonky!!

I definitely will, it is good that FMIL are actively interested in the wedding and I couldn't ask for a better family to be marrying into. The wedding is not till November 2013 so we have time to decide and do rough drafts.

I made ours but can't figure out how to flash from my iPhone! They are ivory card with sage green ribbon along left side and sage 3d butterflies in right hand corner with a trail of crystals and then either wedding invitation or evening invitation! I'm quite proud lol. I also made place cards and table numbers to match. I've also made our post box and have our table plan to do in same theme!

Yep I stuck it down using double sided tape, I was just really careful to make sure it wasn't wonky ?

Im not sure if I should go with the thinner ones or the thicker ones like you have. I also have no idea what design to print or where to find designs for invitations!!

How did you attach your "wedding invitation" sign to your ribbon?

The 'ribbon' is made of vellum and the square is attached to the card with double sided tape again.

When I first started designing mine I just collected pictures of other designs that I liked and did something similar.

If there's anything else I can help with just let me know ?

Hi Leedsbride, your invites are lovely!! Can I ask where you got your pocket things from i.e. the darker bit that you have stuck your actual invite and ribbon to? If that makes sense!!
