Heels or flats?

Sazzle85, 13 February, 2014 at 15:21 Posted on Planning 0 21

Just wanted people's opinions on this as I can't decide? I'm not usually one for wearing heels (unless I'm on a night out) but my mum and bridesmaid think i should wear heels on my wedding day to give me a bit of height and elegance! However I'm worried about having painful feet and just think wearing flats would be the more comfortable option! Who is really going to see my shoes under my dress anyway!?

    Hello,

I am very similar to you, I bought a flat pair of shoes to wear and then decided to order some mid-heel sparkles as I just think about when I go out and I have to admit I do just feel that bit nicer because of a heel. I will change into the flats after the meal so I can dance :-) lol

    xx

I'm not comfortable in high heels either so got some kitten heels, should be comfortable in them and if they get sore at night time I can put flats on and don't have to worry about the dress being too long either.

If you're not comfortable wearing even small heels then just wear flats, it's important you're comfortable and you don't have to wear heels at all if you don't want to.

I've bought the flattest shoes I could find. But I am 6ft and a teeny bit taller than my OH so added height is a bit of an issue for me!

Go with whatever you'll feel comfortable in.

Only you can decide on this. Day to day I live in flats, but I'd never go on a night out without heels. I just feel far more feminine in them. When I first tried on my dress, the shop ladies hadn't done it up properly, so it was too short, which would have meant wearing flats, or tiny kitten heels. I wouldn't have bought the dress on that basis. I just took my shoes off after the meal to dance.

You could always wear heels until your feet hurt then change into some sparkly flip flops. Nobody will see either way.

I'm wearing flats during the ceremony, then changing to converse for the reception. I can't really walk in heels though (am ok in boots with a small-ish chunky heel, not to great in 'normal' shoes with a heel) and I'd just worry about tripping/falling over or have to hold on to someone constantly!

I'm wearing flats but that's because I am a little taller than H2B and don't want to tower over him. Plus they'll be more comfortable.I second the idea of heels for the ceremony and flats for the reception though.

I feel much nicer in heels, and i think i carry myself better. But after a while i find them uncomfortable. So im going to wear small heels for the ceremony & pictures, then change into flats for the dinner & evening x

I have a heel problem called plantar fascitis which means I've worn nothing but trainers for years on a daily basis. I can wear heels, but not for long so I plan to have a pair of converse for dancing in ?

Thanks everyone! I still can't decide! I bought a pair of heels but now I'm really doubting whether to wear them! Maybe I will get some flats too and take both pairs to my dress fitting then decide how I feel! If I do go for heels I can always change in to the flats later in the day!

Heels for the daytime (not planning on doing much walking!) and flats for the evening.

I have a pair of kitten heels for the day and some sparkly flats for the evening. I love my flats though I may just wear them all day! I hardly ever wear heels anyway.

I'm aiming for little kitten heels as I like wearing them normally, but not found any I like yet.

I have a recurring serious knee injury so much as I love heels I can't risk wearing them in case the knee misbehaves. I don't want to spend the day in A&E

I say wear what you like rher than what anyone else thinks you "should" wear and if having a long day definitely have a change for the evening. We are just having a simple "do" with no guests so it is less of an issue for me.

I'm not comfortable in high heels either but I really want to wear them for the wedding. I'm thinking of getting heels with thicker heels and a platform as I find stilettos a lot more painful to wear.

I am just a couple inches taller than OH too so I'll be wearing flats for sure.

Wear what you feel comfortable in, you can always change into flatter shoes for the reception...a girl can never have enough shoes!!

I'm liking the sparkle! I'm not sure elegant is a word I'd use for me in heels...I'm starting to sway towards flats! Anyone seen any nice flat wedding shoes?

Not sure what type of flat you're after but they have some lovely ballet pumps in Debenhams ( link below ). One of my BM's is quite tall so think she may be having something like that. I wanted some sort of heel and my decision was made when I tried my dress. The length was perfect with 2.5in heels so going with them. Something with a strap or ankle strap and probably thicker heels , hopefully more comfortable and less chance of me falling , not great in heels ! Lol

Mid heels here, bright pink ones from Dotty Ps. Should be fine for walking in them.
