Help with birthday present for mum!

Mrs Sparklycat, 1 November, 2008 at 14:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

Hi

I was wandering whether the lovely people of hitched can assist me in obtaining a different/unique birthday present for my mum. Its not a special year or anything but she is the best mum ever, and although I appreciate that are other ways of saying thanks than gifts I am really struggling not to get her something obvious/predictable etc!

I have previously bought her spa days, theatre breaks, break for a christmas market in bath etc, she does so much for us every year in terms of turning up with gifts for my home or my partner and does it for all her kids, she works so hard, and she even looks after my brothers kids as well as working full time and is mum to the 4 of us, she is in her 50's but is a young 50!!

So inspire me with your ideas! One of my options is a skincare consultation... anyone had one, thought that it was worth it etc? Any recommendations?

TIA

Cat

    Dependent on budget:

Is she into clothes? A colour consultation so she knows what colours to wear and not to wear?

A hair cut at one of the top London salons followed by a nice lunch somewhere special?

But you sound like a fab daughter so I'm sure she'll be happy with anything!! And can I borrow her?

My Nana is also wonderful and we use to struggle every year with ideas for gifts as she is 93 and doesn't need any more nik-nacks or clothes nd things. Wha we do now is give her money but with an instruction that she has to spend it on something specific.

Last year we gave her £100 which was to enable her to get a taxi back from town each week after doing her food shop. This year we are giving her the same amount for a cup of coffee and a snack in the coffee shop next to Morrisons after her weekly shop.

It doesn't sound a lot but it is something she would never spend the money on otherwise. Could you do something similar?
