help with dress decision please *****FLASHIES******

freb2reh, 30 September, 2010 at 23:13 Posted on Planning 0 23

Would love to know your thoughts on which one. At the moment I think it is the second one winning my heart. We are getting married on an old 1860's timber ship and I am trying to go for an sort of classy old fashioned romantic type thing if that helps.

I have actually looked at both of these dresses too! (Just on websites I'm not trying on until I loose a stone!!). I think both are gorgeous-they are very much my style too! But I think I agre with you-I think the 2nd one just slghtly wins for me!

I'm sure both will be beautiful!

WOW!! Getting married on a Timber ship??!! How cool!! Smiley smile

The 2nd one by far... it's beautiful - and I think really compliments your choice of venue - the lace is so reminiscent of those times Smiley smile

SherrieH - Its HMS Warrior in Portsmouth.

Thankyou everyone, have slept on it and think I will probably go with the second one. Apart from the fact I am a little in love with it, when I tryed on the first I thought it was a little restrictive for walking and I should imagine dancing also but it did have a stunning train - decisions decisions.

I prefer the first one but i'm biased because it's v v similar to mine!

Love the strap detail on the second and the train. x

I love them both, I have tried dress 1 on I think- Is it Benjamin Roberts? and you are right the train was stunning, and the pics don't do it justice at all, there's a lot of intricate beadwork.

I do really like the straps on number 2 though and it seems as though that fits your 'theme' better!

    Both gorgeous choices though X

no 2 is my fave, it's stunning and I loveit with the flower corsage in the hair, adds to the romantic feel of it. I think a tiara would be too harsh.

Yes, the first is Benjamin Roberts 2056 and you are right about the phot not doing it justice. It had gorgeous beadwork and a beautiful twinkle also. I also agree a tiara may be too much I was thinking of maybe an old english rose or peonie in my hair with a low slung side bun. The second one also has a twinkle but more subtle and the lace was absoloutly stunning when I finally got too see it in the flesh so to speak.

Have you tried on the second one? Straps *can* make your shoulders look broad, not saying they definitely will but it's something you should bear in mind.

Ruth23 - yes I have tryed both on. I wasn't too worried about the straps as they taper away and also gave it a fairly deep v neck which kind of helped carry the eye down rather than out to my shoulders if that makes sense.
