hen do help!

superlauren321, 3 July, 2011 at 13:15 Posted on Planning 0 26

Afternoon ladies and gents, i'm looking for a little inspiration!

would anyone mind sharing their hen do activities with me?

im really struggling with this. i'm not particularly a fan of going out and getting lashed (i am a super cool 23 year old)

i want to do something cheap, and where i can get home to my own bed at the end of the night (again, super cool)

any ideas would be muchly appreciated!

We went out for a greek meal then onto see Mamma Mia at the theatre - it was fab! Some of us went out for cocktails and dancing afterwards, opthers headed back after the show.

Other ideas could be; cheerleading, cocktail making, chocolate making, wine tasting, theme park, day at the beach, goto a concert or festival, picnic in the park, jewellery making day,

Sounds like a spa day might be the sort of thing you are looking for?

You do realise, of course, that a hen night is not an essential aspect of wedding preparation... if you don't want one, don't have one. I'm not having a stag night because I'm even more past it than you are and don't drink so there isn't a huge amount of options left ):

Mine probably aren't applicable but we are going away for a weekend.

I dont plan to get too drunk but our weekend will consist of lunch on Friday, cocoktail making in the evening then on Saturday we will be doing a 2 hour lesson where we learn the Beyonce Single Ladies routine, then off for a 3 course dinner, entry into a club and then make our way back home on the Sunday.

I will have drinks but I dont do the getting drunk thing

    * Edit- I should also add that my hen do is a joint celebration for my 30th birthday

I'm having a relatively simple meal out - possibly make-your-own-pizza, then a spa morning for me & close family.

You don't have to have anything expensive or extravagant, or even complicated. My friend had take-away chinese and singstar party at home with a few girls - because she didn't want to spend a huge amount or get drunk or make an ass of herself.

That's the thing - it's your day, so if others choose to moan about your choice of day's plans, then that's their problem, and they don't need to worry about coming along do they?

It'll be a good way to find out who your real friends are...

Just been on one that was staying in a cottage, whole day canoe trip and then go ape the next day. Don't need much alcohol, exercise trebles the effect.

I'm thinking of an organised treasure hunt for mine (although I understand I get very little say beyond location.

    Mine is this weekend!

All I know is that we have booked a cottage in the Peak District for Fri/Sat night, with a big kitchen, a pool and a BBQ. I have asked for the following: no strippers, a karaoke machine, no expensive activities, lots of wine and chatting. I suspect there will be some kind of walk/ramble on the Satruday.

I had a spa day followed by dinner and it was amazing but I have no idea whether it was cheap because my BM's organised it all. Depending on how big your group is you may be able to arrange a group discount. Alternatively, why not buy some lovely nail colours and have a DIY spa day at home.

The other idea I thought of was a pottery painting afternoon - we did it for my BM's hen do and you don't have to take away the item you've painted if you don;'t want to which saves some money but you can eat whilst you paint so you could have an afternoon tea party while painting.

My hen do wasn't at all boozy - champers was drunk but nobody went OTT and everyone had an amazing time

    Good luck x

It was a fab show - I loved it, i was singing along to all the songs! Very clever staging. There was audience participation in the form of singing along to the songs and clapping - I expected everyone to get up and dance, but to be honest it wasn't that easy in our seats. (high up and little leg room) But in the last few songs, in the finale part we did get up and dance in our seats and so did most other people. I think it just needed a few to get it started really.

We did the whole theme for my weekend, greek meal, dress up with a 70's theme - great fun.

I am going to my friends this weekend and we are going to a photoshoot during the day (managed to find a good deal on Groupon) followed by dinner and then a comedy club which turns into a nightclub. Our hen didn't wamt a boozy affair either.

I know this is a bit of a late bump, but just to let you know superlauren, if you keep your eye on travelzoo, they do great local deals on there. The deals are only up for about 5 days but you can get some great bargins! I got a spa day at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Blackburn for half the usual price. Bargain, and perfect for me, my mum and my sisters for my hen do number 1. Hope this helps (and that you see it, me replying this late hehe)

    :-)

Wow thanks guys theres some cracking ideas here.

queenofspain i live near the dunkenhalgh! i only work up the road too so shall keep my eye out thanks!

to be honest, i think the idea of 'do what you want to do' is the bit that i find most difficult.

im kinda thinking now that i'd like a meal out followed by a pyjama party! if im completely realistic with myself, i know that my close friends will do whatever i want to do!

My BM's are planning a Go Ape hen party for me too! The theme is Tomb Raider: Down in the Jungle It's not been completely organised yet, but i know that's what they're planning. They're also planning a 2nd night for those who can't do the Go Ape things where everyone is to dress up in their best frocks, and i get to wear my jeans and a T shirt!

    xx

One bit of advice on go ape - schedule the opportunity for a shower shortly after - unless you are very good at landing zip wires, you will get woodchip in your pants, which is annoying...

Bargain! Look on spabreaks.com. xxx
