Hen / stag photography

CTB, 24 August, 2011 at 13:58 Posted on Planning 0 12

Good afternoon

I am thinking of offering Stag / Hen night photography as a bolt on to my wedding packages, would this be something people would generally be interested in?

Thanks

No I dont think I would. I have perfectly acceptable photographs that my friends took on my hen do.

Thanks for the reply, i can see your point and thats probably why not many offer this as a service, but i guess if i offer it, say on an hourly rate, some may take it up.

i guess it all depends on how you percieve photography, images taken on most phones these days are great for Facebook etc, but i was thinking of maybe a few scattered at the beginning of a wedding album may offer more of the story. especially if reasonably prided or even thrown in with a high end package??

Would it be worth offering it as part of the package?

i tend to be flexible with payment, monthly payments in advance are a very popular way to pay.... and often people are happy to buy albums a few months down the line once funds have recovered a little Smiley smile but out of interest, what would you expect to pay for hen party photography?

Sounds like a nice idea - For a few hours during the day or night. I dont think it would be a good idea to capture the whole night.

No, for this kind of event, I prefer pictures taken by friends. More natural. I wouldn't want some randomer coming along to my hen and tagging along with us all day even if they are taking photos.

I think the opening post was slightly missleading as i put 'hen night' when i was thinking more of the event type day.

following a hen night round a nightclub would scare me too much, i've led a sheltered life Smiley smile

I'm not sure many people would be prepared to pay the extra it would cost you in time and effort to do a stag or hen. I had a pro tog at my hen but my BM's organised that and she did it at mates rates to increase her portfolio.

How much were you planning on charging?

Good point, but that 'randomer' would be the guy/gal you've chosen to take your wedding photography, so by the hen do, surely you'd have gotten to know them quite well.... we do complimentary portrait shoots and at least 2 or 3 meets with the B&G so i like to think that we have become a friend to them rather than a stranger

I see absolutely no harm in offering this as an extra to your services - you can't really lose as it costs you nothing to offer it.

Personally, this probably isn't something I would do as I couldn't really justify an extra cost to the wedding budget.

However, if money was no object and I was having a day of activities then I would consider it as it would probably capture everything better than a friend could.

I definitely wouldn't have it on a night out as I think friends photos do the job here. And how up yourself would you look in a club with a photographer following you around?! Ha.

    that's the million dollar question

i'd try to build it into a package so the cost can be ammortised but as a stand alone item, it would probably be a nominal hourly cost to cover expenses and hope to make the income from print sales. treat it as event type photography

...perhaps, but for me the hen was about me bonding with my closest female friends, entirely different than a wedding!
