lancsgirl, 18 November, 2010 at 15:09 Posted on Planning 0 26

Hi all im just starting to plan our wedding which were hoping will be in summer/spring 2012, we havent got a clue really what we want, we have both been married before and didnt really have the wedding we wanted so this time we want to take the time and plan for us not everyone else.

Maybe a civil ceremony in a hotel with reception and evening, or a register office and then a meal in a restaraunt and party afterwrds.

need advice on places in lancashire, preston idealy.

    Hi & Welcome ?

Sorry I don't know Preston at all but I am sure some of the girls willbe able to help out. If you look under Venues in the Directory that would be a start.

Anything you need to know just ask.

Can't help with the area either but this is a list of 'approved premises', ie hotels where you can have a civil ceremony in the Preston area.

    http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/acs/sites/registration/civil-partnerships/locations.asp?town=Preston

You can have a look through their websites and shortlist any that fit the criteria you have in mind.

If you're only having a small number of guests then probably the register office followed by a local pub will probably be sufficient for your needs. It all depends how "big" you want to make it all - as yourselves, I didn't have the wedding I wanted my first time either so this time we're making sure it is definitely what we both want, much more like a proper wedding than I endured last time.

Usually in a licensed venue on a saturday you can expect to pay £400-£500 for the registrars fees; the registry office is somewhat cheaper but of course generally less glamorous a venue.

    Hi Ang,

Although there doesnt seem to be many people from this end, there is no shortage of ideas flying around!!

Think we went and visited about 12 venues in total, but am from Skelmersdale and were getting married in a church by my Dad's so West Tower was perfect for us as its close x

By the end of this weekend, we should hopefully have a) venue sorted b) church booked c) photographer ? we have been in touch with them all and they are all available on our new date (had to change dates this week!) so it will be a question of paying deposits.

Other than that, were going to leave everything else until next yr, although i know what colours/theme we want etc.

You will know the venue you want when you see it! as for weather wise - its just pot luck I think!, but were still going to risk it and at the moment, going for June x

    Hi Lancsgirl,

I am from Wigan so am kind of close ha! we went to visit bartle hall which we both fell in love with but unfortunately it turned out to be too far for us as we are having a church wedding in wigan and was just too far between the two! otherwise we would of definately booked there i loved it and was a really good price too.

i am getting married October 2012, so its still early days so am really interested in visting lots of wedding fairs in the area etc, so if you know of any coming up please let me know

    Thanks

Hi I am new to all this too but I have just booked my wedding at Wyrebank Banqueting Suite which is just up the road from the Golf Club and is really nice. They are having a wedding fair on Sunday 30th January from 12-4 which may be worth a look as it is a stunning venue and is really reasonable. I think they said they can cater for up to 120 guests and I know you can have your ceremony there too.

    Hope this helps
