Holiday countdown

Storky, 26 July, 2010 at 11:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

I am a very excited lady!

It's my friend's wedding on Friday and then I'm taking Ma CB on holiday to Cyprus on Saturday! I appreciate it's not exciting for anyone else but I've got a huge grin and can't wait to be in the sunshine. The rain pounding at my window is making my excitement worse!

Ma CB hasn't had a holiday in 5 years since she and my dad split up so I'm over the moon at being able to take her away. I like to spoil my mum sometimes!

    Where are you going, teehee?

Wow - I find it amazing when I hear about people not going abroad. I know it's far less common now but visiting other places is AMAZING.

We're off to Pernera near Protaras. Not too lively but lots of sun and cocktails!

Sorry to derail the thread slightly but

Trickers - i've stayed at the Elysium and it is fantastic. You'll have a great time. The thing I loved most was the Molton Brown toiletries! Lovely. Have fun.

    Thanks, Debbie!

Is there anywhere in Cyprus you'd recommend? It's my first trip there.

P.S. I spent a good hour over the weekend drooling at your headbands and tiaras. They're beautiful.

I love cyprus & could quite happliy spend the rest of my days there...lol

I hope that you like hot weather because now is the hottest time of the year, it can get unbearable even at night time. We once went in July & it got to 43 during the day & only cooled down to 36 degrees at night.

I am very lucky & go a really dark brown in the sun without too much effort (hate sunbathing as I'm way too nosey to lay on a sunbed, I like to see whats going on around me..he..he..he) I dont mind the heat too much but it got too much even for me when we went one year in July..

We go in Ocotber now, its so much quieter & still around 30 degrees.. perfect for a nice relaxing holiday.

If you are staying in Pernera, the Knights Pub on the main street is nice for meals, plus there is the Blue Spice restr thats good food & sizzlers steak house along the road going down to the little beach at pernera is nice too, especially the greek food they do.

Pernera is a nice litle resort but just up the road you have protaras if you want a bit more of a livelier night out, thats a long strip of bars/clubs/restraurants...

The little cove in Pernera is lovely, fab for diving & there is a diving school on the right hand side as you look out to sea, if you get a chance to go diving I would say go, its amazing as the sea is so clear.

For a bigger beach, you have Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, gorgeous sand & clear blue water (which will be warm too) There is a walkway along the beach front, so that you can walk from Pernera to Protaras, takes about 10/15mins

Just on the Main Protaras road you have the "church on the hill" blooming loads of steps to climb but views along the coast are great, though it seems to get more built up each year we go, loads of villa's being built now.

If you are hiring a car, then I would deffo do a trip in Aiya Napa (not half as mad as people make out, though it maybe at this time of year - my sister inlaw & mates have just landed there & I doubt they will have gone to napa for the scenery - she is only 21)

Nissi Beach in Aiya Napa is GORGEOUS!!! White sands & turquoise water, you can paddle out for ages before it drops off deeper.

Also would deffo recommend a boat trip from Aiya Napa harbour, one that takes a few hours & goes along the coast towards Famagusta (the ghost town on the turkish side) You get the chance to get off & have a swim in some little coves along the way & we even saw flying fish on our last boat trip in October.

If you need any more info, send me an email to: ***************@***.***

I dont want to fill all the pages with my love of Cyprus, I could also send you some pics if you like. We have been going to Cyprus on & off for about 10 years & have noticed it gets more expensive each time we go & as the Euro is quite low, you dont get much for your money but its never put us off going again & again.

Hope that helps, feel free to get in touch if you want any more info Smiley surprise)

    Debbie

    xx

(PS) thanks for the comments about the my tiaras/headbands... I have just reduced them today..... BARGAINS to be had!!

    Have a fantastic holiday.

I got back a week ago from spending 2 days in Madrid and 4 days in Barcelona with my daughter for her 21st Birthday present.

I am excited as taking my son to Ghana in 3 weeks for his entrance to college, his GCSE's and for his 17th Birthday.

Love holidays, its the only reason i work - except to pay the bills ☹️

Have a brilliant time CB - OH's brother got married in Pernera. Lovely beaches etc. If you get chance and it's your sort of thing, there are trips organised to the north of the island where you can see the ghost town famagusta from the turkish occupation - it's really interesting.

Lol, it was just one of those years last year when we realised we wouldnt be able to go on many holidays so we just went on loads. We were lucky to have Australia paid for us by my father. The others, apart from New York were really cheapy ones but some of the best holidays i have been on. Now looking back, i wish i hadnt of spent as much money that i did on holidays as i could have used the money for my honeymoon which i can no longer have Smiley sad
