Honeymoon gift lists

FaeBelle13, 20 June, 2012 at 14:34 Posted on Planning 0 9

Does anyone have any recommendations of who to set up a honeymoon gift list with? I want one where I can make the booking and people can just make a contribution or pay for specific things like trips or upgrades, but there seem to be so many and I'm always a bit sceptical of booking such expensive things with people I havent heard of or been recommended.

This miserable weather has made me even more excited to book the honeymoon so hoping to do it soon ?

We booked a Kuoni honeymoon through Blue Bay Travel.

If they wished, our guests were able to order gift cards from Kuoni with a reference number and give them to us in cards.

After the wedding, we then sent these off to Kuoni and they sent us a cheque.

We found some of the online ones actually take a charge from you or your gift givers. We set one up with Paypal via gettingmarried.co.uk Paypal do take a charge, but a smaller percentage than the companies were asking.

I didn't find this out until I was looking.

We gave a couple money through Honey Money and I was a bit miffed to find out that the couple only received 90% of our gift!

If I had known this in advance I would have given them cash!

We are using Honeyfund through Thomson and they don't charge guests for depositing money through their website. There is a honeyfund website though which you could use for any travel company.

We are using Zankyou, which apparently has the lowest commission rate of any of the websites. We're going backpacking on honeymoon and we've built it so people buy us specific gifts, but really they are just giving us money which we will have transferred to our account before the honeymoon starts. It's quite good - but it's not linked to buying specific honeymoon products like some of the others.

We're using this too. Very positive experience so far. We chose all our experiences for our 6 month round the world trip. Think it's nice for guests to feel like they're not just giving you money but money for something specific at BB wrote. We'll send them a postcard!

Us too, it seems really good! I think it's great if you want to be flexible - and yes, it means that people get to be a part of it a bit more than just giving money. I'm going to try and have a 'thank you' photograph taken while away and made up into cards when we get back. I think it'll be nice to tell people how much we enjoyed the particular experience they paid for, it seems really personal. Your trip sounds amazing! xx

What kind of experiences have you put on your list then BrainyBride? And where are you off backpacking?
