Honeymoons where are you going?

millymolly83, 10 September, 2009 at 15:05 Posted on Planning 0 34

Me and Mr O are looking at honeymoons, but we just cannot decide where to go!

Where are you planning to go on your honeymoon or where did you go? Any ideas would be greatfully received ? (from both of us)

Well we would love to go on a caribbean cruise, but as we ar getting married in September it's not the season for it. We did think about places like the Maldives but don't really want to be stuck on a beach with not much else to do for 2 weeks. So we are now either thinking Mexico (which OH isn't too keen on) or having a mini break after the wedding and then going on the cruise after xmas. Or...... I'm trying to convince him to go to New York but he's having none of it.

What type of holiday do you want? I could think of nothing worse than just lying on a beach for 2 weeks, I need somewhere with a bit of activity going on :-)

We're going to Huvafen fushi in the Maldives... it 's luxury with a capital "L"!! It was my sisters fault, she works in travel and suggested it and once I saw it there wasn't anywhere else to go! Needless to say we're having to go next April as we need the time to save up to pay for it!

Well i suggested the maldives, as thought it would be grea to have a bit of a relaxing time after the wedding, and OH has suggested Las Vegas, or Florida, as he just hates lazing around.

We are driving the Pacific Coast Highway from Seattle to LA and then off to collapse on a beach in Jamaica for a week ?

We like places were we can go out and see the local area as well as sunbathing etc.

What has been your fave holiday ever, can you start with that and glam it up?

I love that idea, I might suggest that to OH tonight, as he isn't having much to do with the planning of the wedding the least he could do is organise the honeymoon and I quite like the idea of going to the airport without a clue where I'm going to end up :-) mind you, will probly end up with a weekend in Bognor knowing him

    Hi

Were going to the Isle of Wright for a week but on our years annervisary so July 2011 (god that seems SOOO far away) were going to go traveling for a month or so around Oz or Canada havnt decided which.

Hope that helps!!! Ive got a year and 10 months to get over my horrid fear of flying (I was sooo nervous when I went to New York I spilt the guy sitting next to me drink all over him before we even took off so he was less than impressed!!) then we had a 10 hour delay actually sat on the flight as it was an electrical thuderstorm!! i think almost two years on my nerves have only just recovered!!

Well we've done a big round the world trip, we've done the tropical island (lived on one in the middle of nowhere with no electricity or running water for 3 months!), so we're plumping for snow and mountains and going to Western Canada just after the winter olympics. It was that or Tanzania, but the saftey situation bothered me so Canada it is! We're also potentially moving to New Zealand next year for a year, but that would have been our other honeymoon choice.

I wanted to do snowboarding in Canada for ours, but although h2b loved the idea he thinks we should go somewhere sunny.

Our ideal honeymoon would be a 5 days in Los Angeles or San Francisco and 10 days in Hawaii but that all depends on the budget.

We have just been organising ours today!!!

Origionally we thought the Maldives but OH does get a bit bored so we looked at the Seychelles as there are more places to visit etc BUT then we decided we'd get better value for money in the Caribbean...

We had ruled it out as we're going in July and its rainy season but after some research it seems it is still fantastic for 99% of the time and we've decided on St Lucia as its furthest east and therefore least likely to see a hurricane!!!

We are doing 2 weeks at 2 different AMAZING hotels...the second week one is up a cliff and has the 4th wall missing so its straight out over the sea and you get your own private infinity pool in your room and out over the edge!!!! The whole Island looks amazing and i CANNOT wait!!!!!!!

P.S. fancyfree are you going to Whistler??? It is one of the most amazing places in the world, we had the most fantastic time out there!!!!

We are doing three weeks in Florida, We love it there plus my son will be with us and it ticks all the boxes. We have hired a villa, my parents are coming out or the second two weeks so me and h2b can spend a week on the coast or by the keys.

If it had just been the two of us I would have gone back to Canada, it's the most amazingingly beautiful country I have ever been to. The rocky mountains take your breath away ?

we decided the opposite. we didnt want to risk the weather so ruled out most long haul places we have decided to go to a 4 star all inclusive hotel in turkey. they have a beach and 2 pools for me, and lots of watersports and other activities like archery for OH as he hates lazing about! best of both worlds I hope and lots and lots of food which we both like!

We went to thailand for 2 weeks - 3 nights in bangkok, 10 in koh samui. we loved loved loved it.

we went all out on the bangkok hotel whilst we were there, but there are MUCH cheaper options, and it was dirt cheap when we were out there. only thing that was vaguely expensive was the flights to get there.

We have been scratching our heads for a while over this one and have finally come to a decision we are both 100% happy with and unbelievably excited about - 2 weeks in Kenya with a safari trip for 2-3 days while we're there! ?

Originally we also wanted the Caribbean but as we'd be going at the end of July it's the hurricane season. Then we thought about the Maldives, which I was very keen on because I think those water huts are just pure paradise - but then I can lie on the beach/by the pool all day and do nothing but OH gets a bit restless ? so we wanted to look for somewhere with a little bit more to do. Kenya was actually OH's idea and after doing a bit of research we both knew that was the place! We're hopefully booking it in the next month or so and I am soooo excited!!

Sorry Millymolly that post turned out to be very 'me me me' ? I think Vegas sounds amazing, you have loads to do there but can also do the sunbathing thing too.

Myself and OH have decided on Canada. I love to ski and he loves to board.

We are getting married in November and thought we could have a mini moon straight after the wedding (little cottage in scotland) and then head off on HM just before Christmas. We want to spend our first Xmas and New Year on our own and thought what better way could there be than to be skiing/boarding on Christmas day!

    I cant wait!

We have decided that we will go full wack on this holiday!?

Funny enough i was asked the exact same question a couple of weeks ago, the conversation is as follows:-

'so where are you going for honeymoon ali'.....'Great Yarmouth'.....'No seriously ali where are you going'.....'Great Yarmouth'......'Come on stop mucking about seriously where are you going'.....'sigh Great Yarmouth'

However, its better than it sounds its a beautiful log cabin on the edges of a golf course, overlooking a lake, it has a balcony with its own jacuzzi (sic?), bbq etc...perfect and just what we wanted, peace, serenity however i doubt we will get the weather too but in all honesty we just want to be together ?

We are going to Hong Kong for 4 nights then Mauritius for 11 nights - can't wait!!! I'm sick of all this saving and not going anywhere! OH is delighted to be going to 2 places and it only cost the same as 14 nights in Mauritius so may as well do both ?

    Wow, some amazing honeymoons!!

We are having two weeks in Jamaica, we picked a resort that includes loads of activities but if we want to just have a lazy few days there are a few pools and, of course, the beach.
