Hotfix crystal shoes - what do you think? - *Flash*

FutureMrsRon, 31 January, 2011 at 13:54 Posted on Planning 0 29

I bought my shoes from Priceless Shoes for a brilliant £6 and have spent approx. 15 hours sticking Hotfix crystals onto this one.....haven't finished the other shoe yet lol

I'm really pleased with how they look and how easy it is to do.....even if it does take a while

I'm also going to make a burgundy pair to match our colours, and am going to give my BMs a pair of silver ones each

You've done a bloody good job of that, if you hadn't said you'd stuck those gems on I would've thought it was how you bought them Smiley smile

Hmm this is making me think I must have a go at this myself, thanks for making me feel I can have a go ?

Oh thanks :-) it's easy enough, you just need to have the time and patience to sit and do it, I do a couple of hours on a night with the TV on in the background. I got my hotfix wand from eBay, it was about £16.95, and I get the crystals from there too, a supplier called missdiamante, you get 1440 of the larger ones for £8. I originally wanted the Benjamin Adams 'Gaga' shoes but they're £250, so OH is happy for me to spend the money buying crystals because it'll come to about £30 for the pair altogether (incl. £6 for the shoes)

Can i ask what material the shoes were originally? Do they have to be fabric/satin shoes for the stones to stick?

    Thanks x

They're just cheap fake leather shoes from Priceless Shoes lol

Not patent or anything, just 'leather look' and the glue on the crystals sticks to them fine

Got a pair of ivory heels on Sunday from Peacocks for the princely sum of £5... crystals and wand came this morning. I will get cracking on them tonight. This will now take over my life lol.

    Hiya

    They look amazing.

Can I just point out one thing. Not having done this before but maybe worth checking....... When they are warn, check that the crystals don't pull off on the creasing part by the toes as I can imagine that where the shoes crease, this may pull them off but I've never worked with this material before so wouldn't know for sure.

Made a start last night but I couldn't get the wand to pick up the larger crystals AT ALL. I was ready to throw the thing in the bin (I am very impatient) but decided to try the smaller crystals to see how I get on. It took me 2 hours to do the heel of one shoe but I am getting somewhere!! It's quite therapeutic Smiley laugh

Sounds silly but did you use the correct size tip? I've found that I have to use the size smaller sometimes - it is frustrating when they won't pick up

I was looking for something like hotfix or bejewlling but it is confusing as lots of the applicators seem to be only certain sizes and from china or somewhere - could these be dodgy? Also do you think I would be able to apply the crystals to the straps of slingbacks, or would they come off as you pull the straps on? I thought I was going to have flats but after seeing how stunning yours are I think now I would like to get crafty with some comfy slingbacks i have! Do they stick to all materials?

You know I might just try this ? Got some lovely peep toe shoes with a red sole that have gone abit tatty looking. If I did this they might, just might, look like those very expensive but beautiful Louboutins in all the bride magazines haha!

I had this trouble, but the shoes I used were patent leather. I think Hotfix is designed for use on fabric though, so holds a lot better. I've resorted to using E6000, which is possibly the most evil invention known to man but very durable!

    Panjita they are gorgeous!
