Hey,

just wondering how everyone decided on their colour and theme? did you always picture your big day to have a certain theme? did you pick your favourite colour? did you choose to match the time of year? i havent a clue where to begin......... ?

I got mine from my favourite film (Breakfast At Tiffanys) & jewellers Tiffany & Co,

I love the colour to me it's fresh and suits the time of year i'm getting married (July)

Good Luck in your search for colours

    Hi,

When I got married, I picked a colour that I really liked and also one the would look good with my colourings ( I am a red head and so was CBM and one other BM) - raspberry and twinned it with ivory and gold to keep it summery.

I think firstly it needs to be a colour you like as it will be a big part of the day and it can be a good way to tie everything together.

Have a look at some mood boards to see what catches your eye

    Anna

My colours were between blue, green and purple because that's the colours that I like. I eventually went with purple because we found some lovely bridesmaid dresses in that colour. x

I thought about the colours I usually wear. I also picked based on my favourite flowers and what colours they come in.

I chose my wedding colours based on the interior colour scheme of the church where we are getting married. I would never tell anyone this in real life because I don't think it sounds very good ?

My OH still thinks we are having the colour scheme he suggested though, so there my be a few surprises on the day...

We thought about things that suited us both and said a little about our interests. OH kayaks and I like the beach so water seemed a good theme which naturally led to turquoise as a colour, though its becoming more like varrying blues with white and silver accents now - making it all match in one hue exactly is not really me!

I went through loads of pictures of weddngs on the internet magazines etc.. and the colour scheme that I kept going back to was the one I chose which was champagne/ivory with chocolate accents. I also have curly willow which I love and twigs in vases around my house so incorporated the willow into my centrepieces and bouquets

This is my second wedding so I can give you two different examples of thought processes:

    - wedding 1: I was a real tom boy as a kid and still wasn't that girly when we got engaged so I went with blue as it was a non-girly colour

    - wedding 2: I saw a photo of some flowers and I fell in love. They were bright pink. So this wedding is going to be bright pink and silver.

Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! ?

My thought process went like this: Had burgandy before so cant have that. Best friend A had red so can't have that. Best friend B was having puple so couldnt have that.

I liked petrol blue and hot pink but then best friend B's fiancee changed to teal so couldnt have that as it was too close.

So did mood boards of dusky pink and mink, and green and dusky pink. Loved green and pink as it was very "spring like" and decided I loved the vintagey look.

Sage green with dusky pink highlights it is!

I didn't have any idea of colours until we went shopping for BM dresses. Although my BMs are my sisters they have very different colouring (and interesting hair colours!) so we had to find something that would suit them both. The sample dress my sister tried on was navy and we both loved it so it just went from there.

I'm a piscean and can be very indecisive (I think lol!) but my favourite colour has always been turquoise/aquamarine plus its my birth stone so went with that. We're getting married abroad so seems to be the right colour to suit our wedding.

I'd go with what you're drawn to x

I have always loved old hollywood, the rat pack, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe etc so I knew that I wanted to incorporate these things into my wedding. I also knew that I wanted 1950's vintage black and white cars from when I was about 10 years old! I am a big fan of the breakfast at tiffanys poster with the classic black shift dress and chunky pearls so I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to have that kind of look(ish). I originally wanted a knee length boatneck 50's dress but they all looked hideous on me(I have big boobs!) so I have got a long strapless wedding dress and my colours have gone from black and white to black and ivory!!
