How do you Dress?

(Claire), 24 January, 2013 at 14:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 45

I have always considered myself a bit of a plain Jane when it comes to my style. I rarely follow fashion, I wear what I feel comfy in. For work I wear trousers, thin sweaters, shirts that type of thing. Casual dress outside of work is always jeans, t shirt, blazer, and a night out I will go for shift style dresses. I hate anything bold, floral, and bright! I Tend to wear blacks, browns creams maybe the odd bit of orange and green. I am generally happy with the way I look but sometimes I do wish I had bigger balls and go a bit our there! IYKWIM.

So what's your style and are you happy with it?

I'm exactly like this. I do look at people's clothes sometimes and think I wish I could pull that off, which I might be able to but I'm just too chicken to go for it and see if it does suit me!

I would say my style is a little bit alternative, skinny jeans, lots of black, converse and biker boots. I'm happy with my style, though I am getting slightly more girly as I get older!

Absolutley this for me. Comfort is key. Even when I'm in my wedding dress fittings, I pause to check I can sit down, breathe, dance and eat (I practice all of these everytime!)

This winter has mainly been about jumper dresses and boots for me, with the addition now of skinny jeans/jeggings and boots!!

Can't be arsed with low cut or tight tops, mainly because I don't like my boobs/flab visible but also because I don't want to have to consider when I bend down that people might be able to see down my top.

Generally, can't be arsed! Take me as I am..

Black trousers & a smart t-shirt or blouse type thing for work. (Although I'm wearing a dress today as have a meeting after work)

Jeans , t-shirt & jumper at home. Smart jeans & top when I go out. Not big on skirts unless I can wear opaque tights.

I used to follow fashion... and I was one of these people that shopped every weekend, a new outfit for every occasion, but funds now don't allow it, meh [:'(] I am a heels girl and in my eyes they go with everything, but that has changed slightly with living on a farm, you will often find me more in my wellies or walking boots.

I like to look nice, and make an effort, and some people (family) would say I am always glamours (!?!sp!?!) but I am not one of these who follows others, I don't do false tan, nails, eyelashes, hair.... more of the natural classy sophistacted look I guess, well that is my aim.

Same with me! Comfort over fashion most of the time. Suits/skirts/dresses for work and mainly jeans/leggings for the weekend. Nights out, dependant on where I am going, could be either dresses or trousers with classy cut tops etc etc.

I love bright colours and my favourite colour is red. Also love emerald green and cobalt blue.

I change my style depending on how I feel that day. Some days I wear pretty floral things, others I like more edgy clothing. I would say I folllow fashion and I like to try new things.

LOVE the boots!!! Where are they from?!

My work wear is jeans, corporate polo shirt, fleece, body warmer, plus safety boots and hi-vis. Really attractive ?
Outside of work I dress depending on my mood - anything from jeans & tshirsts or jumpers, floaty girly dresses, to 50's style, to rock chick, to proper goth. All depends on how I feel, where I'm going, and who with ?
Whatever, I always pick for comfort first. I often plan my outfits around what shoes I want to wear... ?

I wear what's comfy too, but I do still follow fashion I guess. I don't follow every trend but I wear what suits my shape and what I feel comfy in. If there's a new trend I like, I'll give it a go, and ditch it after if it's not really me. I'm quite girly, like colours and prints, never ever wear black/brown, and usually wear long tops/dresses with leggings or jeggings, or printed vest tops with jeans etc. Love my Uggs but love summer more as I literally get sandals in every colour to match all different outfits!

For nights out it always has to be killer heels and a dress/top & skirt combo. I don't go out out in jeans as I don't feel dressy enough! The comfort thing also goes out the window for nights out - if it looks good, I wear it!

I am a girly person though... always have a full face of makeup (even for sitting around the house!), I always make an effort with my hair, and I have my nails done every 3 weeks, and have done for about 3 years now ?

Ha ha I do this but with underwear! I only ever wear matching undies and all mine are fancy sets (I wait for the sales so only buy expensive undies!) and I will think "right, I want to wear that bra today, so what top can I wear over that..." ?

Ha ha, FTLOMB, I love how you pointed out you were wearing 2 boots today!

i like my bold colours and patterns! what i wear varies on where i am/what im doing, work tends to be quite casual, jeans, boots, colourd tops & cardis and probably chunky coloured jewellery. If Im at an event, i'll probably be in a dress, but unlikely in a grey taylored dress!

im my own time if its casual it'lss be jeans and funky tshirt.

I love vintage so when ever possible I'll be in vintage get up. I have a few vintage dresses and reproduction dresses and coloured capri pants. These tend to be more worn more in the summer.

Have to say Im happy with my style, I wear what I want!

Oh how I wish I knew what to wear.

Everything for my "age group" is really, really horrible but I don't want to look like an aged teenager either. I really struggle with clothes. i have lots but never want to wear any of them.

Today I am in black trousers, a grey cashmere jumper and a black, grey and jade green scarf.

For work its smart / casual / comfortable dresses, cardigans and ankle boots. In the summer it will be linen trousers & nice tops with sandals.

During the week in the evenings its gym gear / pjs / onsies

At wkends - if Im in the house it will be legging, long tops, cardigans with slipper boots.

If Im out on town I get massively dressed up - dresses, hair extensions, eye liner, heels. Alot of people who only see me at work / gym often do a double take if they see me like this, esp without my glasses!

I wear heels if Im out partying / going somewhere where walking isnt an issue.

If there is an event on at work I wear heels but its normally flats.

These are my favourite wkend boots:

And these are boots Ive ordered in DP sale for work just today:

Well, I came second in the best dressed female at the office Christmas party, so I must be doing something right!

I'd say my style is the poor man's Made in Chelsea. My clothes aren't designer, but they're deisgner inspired. Tight tees with big baggy jumpers, oversized bags, that sort of stuff.

Also, the way I look reflects my mood. At the beginning of the week I was poorly, so I was in my Bearpaws (like Uggs, only better ;-) ) and big baggy jumpers. Now I'm feeling better, I'm wearing dresses & heels.

Currently wearing slipper, pyjamas, a hoodie, a wooly hat, a duvet and a grimace. When I'm not pooing at the rate of pints I tend to alternate between the sort of thing FTLOMB is wearing and a more feminine style. I wear a lot of well cut tailoring and heavy jersey dresses for work.

Winter, jeans, boots, jumper or nice top. Summer, jeans, vest top, sandals. Sometimes combats or a little dress, but nothing over exciting.

I dread nights out since I either have very casual stuff, so aforementioned jeans with a slightly nicer top, or formal stuff such as very push dresses. Everyone else seems to pull off the effortlessly trendy look so much better than I do!

I also hate patterned clothes and have a lot of outdoorsy stuff. Colours mainly blue, cream, dusky pink, khaki green and beige. Oh dear I sound boring now!

Ive put on weight since giving birth so I'm not happy with what I wear or my clothes. I have no idea what my shape is now, plus I'm short so clothes buying is not easy.

What I want is for someone just to take me shopping and style me.

I just wear what I want, sometimes girly sometimes trendy, it depends. Last night I went out for tea and wore leather look skinnies, a black longish top with a leopard print cardi, black riding boots and red lippy, nails and bag. Today I'm in grey jogging pants, a pink hoody and H's socks.

Lasdt night however I was disturbed to find that my MIL who is 59 has just bought the same top as I have! Verdict...

I dress very similarly to you Claire, I don't particularly follow trends or fashion and just wear what I'm comfortable in.

VP, my mum's 55 and I can see her wearing a top like that. She doesn't like to be frumpy and shops in New Look, Dotty P's but knows her limits!

I mainly wear black, with some kind of funky print. Skulls, cherries, Hello Kitty (obviously). I have started wearing other colours, but it doesn't feel natural yet.

I'm currently wearing a domino print dress, with black leggings, and Hello Kitty Dr Martens. I have 4 pairs of docs, and about 9 pairs of converse, that I live in. I like funky jewellery too. I hate plain, dull, "boring" clothes. I pretty much dress like a 7 yr old.
