How do you selct THE dress when there are 2 you absolutely love??!!!

CookieJo, 19 June, 2011 at 20:30 Posted on Planning 0 28

Hi, I've never posted anything on a forum before so hopefully I am doing this correctly! I am looking for ppl's opinions on 2 dresses that are both amazing but i just can't decide between (they are also both very different)

One is 'D1158' by essense and just has so much detail, its what my bridesmaids call the romantic option and the other is 'porto' by pronovias and is what my bridesmaid call the wow dress, although the picture really does not do it justice (especially the back of it)

Ppl's opinions are needed ?

Thanks xx

Both stunning dresses - I prefer no 1 for me.

If you really cannot decide between the 2 I would then take the lowest price one ?

Both very different shapes - which looks more flattering on you?

Im in the same situation, I have 2 dresses which I love and they both the same price!! I have decided to leave it a little while and then go back in a couple of weeks to try them on again and see what feeling I get once I have them on again. Im hoping that works!!

They are both very flattering, but when I had the 2nd one on in the shop someone came up to me to tell how stunning it looked, I was all set on buying dress number 1 but then I tried on dress number 2 and have completly confused myself lol

I prefer no 1 but that is just personal preference. They are both beautiful. As sbove cost is a good way to decide. Or call your bluff - write them both down on a bit of paper - shuffle them up and then pick one. Check your immediate reaction to the one you pull out -If your heart sniks or you are happy you will know. x x

I prefer #1. The second one, I don't like the shiny fabric although it may be better IRL. You may need to go and try them both on again (if you've not done so already) and just go with your heart. Keep trying them until you're sure you know which one is The One.

I was but before I saw Bec's flashes darnit! Smiley smile I really like no 1 but I think greenleaf is spot on with that option. Its sort of similar to how I decided on mine because I was umming and aahhing as to if I had found the right one or not. So my mum gave me this little mental scene: how I would feel if I was told I could never put it on again, even if I really wanted to try it. My gut reaction was NOOOOOO! That made my mind up, as there was a Sophia Tolli dress at another store which I LOVED... but when I imagined that dress being banned I just didn't feel the same!

No 1 gets my vote - It is absolutely *stunning*. But, as others have said, it is down to how you feel in them as to which one you should go for ?

They are both very beautiful. Can you get them both in the same shop? If you can, i'd suggest trying them both on alternatively. I think you'll find that you will decided that way. I had 2 dresses that i really liked, but were in 2 different shops. Tried them both on before lunch, sat through lunch thinking about them, but found that one was sitting in my mind more than the other, so i went and tried the gown on again, and i knew for sure that i'd found THE dress! The butterflies i got when i tried the dress on the first time took me by surprise, and they came back when i tried it on again.

Definately think you should go try them both on. You will know what you want when you try them on!

    Good Luck!

    xx

I had a little think about this and maybe another thing to factor in is how you want your day to look. The dresses are very different styles. If you are a wildflowers-in-a-teapot kind of girl and hoping for the vintage country wedding, then dress 1 suits that mood. Dress 2 has a poker-tables-at-the-reception kind of feel, more suited to sharp accent colours and Rat Pack glamour.

Essense dresses are gorgeous. I would go for number 1. Definitely unusual and the shiny fabric of number 2 is putting me off.

Personally, I'd ignore what the random stranger said - as much as it's nice to be told how lovely you look, you have no definition of their idea of lovely! (and I mean that in the nicest possible way).

From those pictures (and yes, I was far too idle to google! Thanks Beckstar) I prefer the first dress - gorgeous! The model in the second dress looks unnaturally tall - her proportions are all wrong - which makes me think she's standing on a platform and that the dress probably wouldn't look anywhere near as stunning when it was altered to fit properly......unless you're really tall, of course!

Thank you for thought ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown as it happens I am having casino tables in the evening and when the DJ get started we are having purple uplighting and thats one of the things that my mum said, dress 2 will suit the wedding...

Also, I know this might sound silly but dress 2 has never been tried on in the shop I have been using as its such a small size and noboday else has been able to fit in it, but it nearly fits me 100% perfectly, so maybe this is a sign that that is my dress........xxx

I had something similar when I tried on dresses. I found "my" dress which made me think "this is it". But then I tried another one and my bridesmaids went "wow!!!" - I actually looked better in it. But I stayed with the first one because it made me smile and gave me a warm feeling in my tummy (it's "Garbo" from Charlotte Balbier).

Btw I like the Essence dress better. It distracts less from you while the other one is a wow-dress maybe distracting from you/your person/your face (hope I can make myself clear here).

    Good luck!

I prefer the 2nd one....It just has the wow factor for me, its very striking.

Go back try them on - even have a hair trail that way you think you'd like your hair etc.

I really don't like the 2nd one sorry. The first is gorgeous! And just cos its lace, it doesn't have to fit in with a garden type theme. Many old hollywood glamour dresses are lace and thats the look I'm going for. I'd go for the 1st. Its more special!

I like the first one better..... However when i was torn between two dresses i thought more about the type of wedding i was having and where it was held. Which one are you thinking about more??

also do you have pics of you in the dress? xxx
