How far do you live from the sea?

Flowmojo, 9 August, 2012 at 11:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 60

This has come about as currently outside my window theres a gaggle(?) of hayooge seagulls, squarking and fighting over something, the noise is unreal!!

I live about 10-15mins from the sea so close enough to nip there, far enough i dont get the traffic on sunny days!! I like it that way...

Our main waterfront here is quite nice, swanky bars and restuarants and so on (and noisy bloody seagullls!!) and we can get a boat from there direct to the seafront down the way !!

So, how far do YOU live from the seaside?!

I'm about 30 mins from Sarrrrrrrrrfend. I've yet to go though.

I'm trying persuade the OH that the next house we buy should be in Leigh on Sea, as I have always wanted to live by the seaside.

Alternatively, I would love to live on the river Thames somewhere - it is my aim to do this one day.

Is your nearest seaside Felixstowe Flow? Im about an hour or so from there and also Clacton. Not too bad of a journey for a paddle in the sea.

About an hours drive away - but there are still lots seagulls the size of cars fighting over the night before's discarded kebab wrappers. Rank.

I'm in Birmingham so about 2hrs away. Hate it- I grew up 10 mins from Witby so was always having proper fish and chips and a day on the beach.

About 30 minutes from Cromer, Sheringham, Great Yarmouth, Wells-next-the-Sea, Cley, Blakeney Point. I'm surrounded!

I'm about 20 miles inland though, so not too many noisey sea gulls.

Probably about 45mins.... North East England has lots of amazing beaches, but its to bl00dy cold to spend much time there, need to be well wrapped up, which is kind of nice on a crisp winters day.

    Almost this, I'm in Tamworth.

I don't really like the sea so it suits me. Although if i lived closer, it'd be easier to keep the small people entertained during the school holidays.

On my way! I love the sea!

I lived a 5 minute walk away when I was at Art college, loved the beach in the winter on a stormy day!

Errrr, I'm terrible with distances but I think about an hour. Far enough that we don't go very often anyway. I grew up in the isle of man and where my parents live is about 2 minutes walk away from a beautiful quiet beach! I thought I'd miss it more, for some reason I don't.

My nearest seaside is Southend I think, which is about 1 1/2 Hours away, maybe a bit less on a good day. I am in Milton Keynes so most things are not too far, I can be in Brighton, Great Yarmouth or Bournemouth in a couple of hours if the traffic is moving right.

Quite far, although I could get to Brighton in a couple of hours. I love the seaside.

I do live fairly close to the river Thames though and one of my greatest pleasures in life is walking along the riverbank in Kingston with a cold drink on a hot day with a good friend.

My family live in Felixstowe. I much prefer it to Clacton! That's probably because they have a beach hut at Felixstowe which is so cool!

Google maps tells me that the closest seaside to me is Clacton and that's 2.5 hours away.

In fact, I think I remember there being a question on QI about it and Bedford is always at least 2 hours away from every seaside in the UK - or something to that effect!

No where near the seaside but we get seagulls from the harbour side.

where we used to live they would have fights on our roof at about 4am! There are always loads in the city centre!

5 mins. Nice little coastal town I live in. In the summer it can get really mobbed though as soon as any sunshine appears.

I used to live on Beach Road in South Shields - so a 1-2 minute walk.

I now live in Leeds. No where near the sea. Sob.
