How high maintenance are you?

Spangler, 19 July, 2011 at 08:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 30

As most of you know (because I harp on about it a lot) I get my false eyelashes done once a fortnight. I also get my mantash & monobrow threaded regularly. Apart from that, I get the odd spray tan & facial.

I used to get acrylic nails done weekly but since I started with the eyelashes I had to give them up.

How high maintenance are you?

In terms of cosmetic stuff, really not very. I've had my nails done once (for my wedding), never had my eyelashes/eyebrows threaded and never had stuff waxed (I do this stuff at home instead, I'm not some excessively hairy beast!).

I promised myself this year that I'd look after myself a bit more and treat myself to regular manicures, spray tan etc. but with all the family drama so far this year, I just haven't had time!

    Very.

    But you know that already.

ETA: Is that a suffient answer or do I need to tone it down a bit?

I have gel nails and either shellac or minx toes monthly and an eyebrow wax as I need it.

Other than that I'm low maintenance!

Hi Spangler! Decided not to go for Sir Bob then? Disappointed.

Speaking of maintenance, I'm getting my hair done tonight. High lighted, low lighted and cut. I go every 6-8 weeks.

Also get my eyebrows waxed every 6-8 weeks, and my toe nails Shellac'd every 4 weeks.

Cosmetically (is that a word? It is now...) not at all. I can't afford to be!

Oh yes, I get my hair dyed every 5 weeks as I have white hairs (look like short & curlies - nice).

Sorry Red Barry, thought Spangler would be less confusing for my fans.

Sammo - glad you don't get your eyelashes threaded. Ouch.

Rae - I think cosmetically is a word.

Tricks - please expand. You are being rude.

On the build up to the wedding I was having loads of treatments but I have never really been high maintenance. I have my hair cut every 12 weeks, dye it myself every 8 weeks or so. I file and polish my nails myself. Occasionally fake tan (again, do it myself) or sometimes have a sunbed (not very often these days). I have an epilator so don't need to wax. I think that's about it really.

I do love buying products though. I have drawers full of body butters, shampoos, hair treatments, facial products, make-up etc.

I think I should retrain as a beautician/ hairdresser. Would save me a helluva lot of money.

At the moment I have had to be frugal with my beauty regime what with saving for the wedding but essential is still a bikini wax every 4 weeks. I don't get very hairy legs so just shave them.

Hair is cut and coloured (have the pesky white one's springing up all over the place) every 8 weeks. Haven't found a decent at home colourant and for the mess and faffing around it takes (I'm not very good with it!) I'd rather spend the £50 in the hairdressers to get a bit of me time.

During the summer I will make sure I got to the Chinese nail bar to have a pedicure!! They chop away (literally) at all the hard skin my bad shoes/flip flops have caused and you're in there an hour all for £20....bargain!

And now I'm starting my new nail regime!

When I'm not saving for a wedding I will get a facial once a month and may treat myself to a body scrub! There is nothing like a bit of pampering to make you feel good about yourself!

Not that much i don't think. I have manicures that last about three days, then i bite them off leave them to grow for three weeks and get another manicure again. I had my teeth whitened last week. I get my hair cut about three times a year. I am having a few sun beds at the moment. I do spend quite a lot on Liz Earle and hair conditioners though and i always wear make up.

Im pretty low maintenance, I have my hair cut when it annoys me and coloured every few months and occasionally get a tan, I had my eyebrows threaded recently and am planning on keeping that up though and I do go to a chiropodist regularly as I have awful feet but everything else I just do myself, been doing it so long now that I think I do as good a job as the beauticians so begrudge paying for it

I do most stuff at home - hair cut n colour (it's easy to maintain a buzzcut!), facials, manicure, various plucking shaving waxing & epilating. My only treat is a fish pedicure once a month, and occasional sunbeds. I'd rather spend my money on body art.

    Low maintenance me.

Low! I have my eyebrows threaded every 4 weeks and my hair cut and coloured every 8 weeks or so (made it last 12 weeks last time, baaaad roots!)

Fake tan I do at home, paint my own toe nails, do nothing to my finger nails, shave legs, bikini line etc.

Have had a couple of facials in the run up to the wedding but that's it!

I am very low maintenance, I get my hair cut about once every six months, I don't wax my eyebrows (have found out that when I get it done I look like a neanderthal with the swelling!). I don't get facials or manicures/pedicures. Although I think I am going to start in January in the run up to my wedding ?

    I am ridiculously low maintenance.

I shave my legs, arms pits, lady area etc - only wax when i go on holiday

I get my hair cut like, every few months - my friends a hairdresser so she does it for £20

I wear very little make up

I sometimes have sunbeds but only cos i get them free at the gym

    never fake tanned

    never had hair extensions

    I paint my own nails

I pluck my eyebrows - tho i would like to have them threaded - place near work does them for £4.

I literally have no money for any of this stuff - it does annoy me espesh as i only have a couple of months til the wedding - i'd really like to be able to have facials and pedicures etc so im all nice and pampered but i dont have the money - because of the wedding!

Ah yes, I recently had hair extensions too (well, a weave) and loved them. Only downside was my hair weighed a lot & it took a gazillion hours to dry.

Fairly low maintenance, mostly because I is a lazy moo ?

At the moment I'm getting my hair cut and coloured every 8 weeks, but that's mostly to keep it in good nick for the wedding - usually it's every 3-4 months, depending on how long it takes for the annoyance factor of my incredibly thick hair to outweigh my inherent laziness.

Same with getting it coloured - costs more to get it done at the salon, but with long, thick hair doing it at home is a faff, so most times I'll get it done at the salon as it's easier, and I only resort to doing it at home when I need to save money.

I get my eyebrows, lip and chin waxed once a month - again, the easier option than plucking/bleaching etc. Tried threading once, never again - I usually have a fairly high pain threshold, but I threading turned me into a total wuss - oww!

Paint my own nails, don't do fake tan as I'm so pale naturally it would look daft, shave legs etc rather than waxing and day to day wear either minimal or no make up. The make up I do own though is all either Benefit or Givenchy so probably just as well I don't wear much as it's not exactly cheap.

I hate shopping as well, so my wardrobe is a bit of a disaster. This is something I'm trying to improve on - since my teens I've pretty much lived in jeans and trainers, partly because I was never a girly girl and partly because I've never really known what suits me and never had the confidence to experiment with clothes, make up etc. I'm trying to make some changes so my clothes are more feminine (and more befitting a 32 year old woman rather than a 15 year old), but it's definitely a work in progress.

    Not at all.

I've never had false tan, nails or eye lashes. Never had a manicure or pedicure, facials or anything.

I cut and colour my own hair.

I wear make up, but after having kids, I perfected the art of getting it all thrown on in under 5 mins.

I sound like a right scum bucket!!

Don't have the money to be high maintenance any more ☹️

    Currently:

hair cut and coloured every 3 months

tint my eyelashes every 6 weeks

facial once a week (used to be a beauty therapist so just use salon products at home)

    bikini wax twice a year

epilate my legs once a month

    manicure twice a year

    pedicure once a year.

    spray tan once a month

It gets much, much worse when I have money.

Reasonably low maintenance day to day, but I do go all out for weddings/holidays/special occasions. I have my highlights done about every 2-3 months (should do them more often but they're so blimmin' expensive). Growing my hair for the wedding, so only had it cut once since March 2010 - will fit in one more trim around Xmas and a good old trim before the wedding.

Generally don't bother with nails/tans etc, unless I'm going somewhere special. Then will have legs/bikini/eyebrows waxed, spray tan and nails done.

Have never had eyelash extensions, but since having individual falsies put on for my makeup trial, am going to get them done for my friend's wedding next month.
