Thanks everyone. I'm not going to say that it's been easy, but it has been worth it. There have been tantrums, tears, and the occasional 'bugger it, I'm getting a takeaway' but aside from that it's the most successful weight loss I've ever tried.

Nobody wants to hear that, though. Everyone wants some kind of quick fix - I know I did. I can appreciate that some people have a very short time left until their wedding, and so have no choice but to crash diet. My advice is that if you have a year or more, be sensible about it. Note down what you eat; maybe not every day but as often as possible, and show it to your friends or fiance. Knowing that you have to put that sneaky cake or extra side order down in writing really makes you feel a bit embarrased, if you know deep down that you are being greedy.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I agree that the shame and guilt is often enough to stop you from having those extra little bits and traditionally that's why clubs like WW work so well. Everyone wants to be able to brag about losing 3lbs in a week and it's the quiet ones that are hiding a little high calorie secret lol Has anyone ever thought of doing a weekly weigh-in on here? Maybe just a thread with a list of names of those that want to join with their weight loss targets and each week people post how much weight they lost that week. That way people will get lots of praise for doing well and meeting their targets and there will be a slight feeling of shame quickly followed by lots of support for those that don't do so well. Something to think about perhaps.....

Ive been doing slimming world since July and am 1lb away from 2 stone - and I want to lose another ten. I am goin to try on my dress end of March and want to be as close to this as possible - but at the end of the day I know 4/5 lb wont make a big difference to my dress fitting.

Can you tell me what you eat in a normal day & what you snack on?

Don't come on the WL Forum often and don't get email alerts - so sorry for not noticing this earlier.

I don't eat breakfast, not through trying to lose weight - I just can never stomach it, never have been able to eat in the morning, even when I was a kid. Although weight loss guides say you should, so maybe that's a negative for me. I have two cups of coffee with milk (no sugar) in the morning. Fruit salad, or home made soup forl unch. If I need to buy a shop bought sandwich I make sure that the sat fat is less than 20% of my daily limit. I drink alot (maybe 1 - 2 litres) of water every day and don't really have fizzy juice unless I'm hungover or ill. I think this makes abig difference as there's so many calories in liquid now and it doesn't even fill you up. For dinner usually something semi home made like spag bol, baked potato & chilli, stir fry, etc. I find that the most inportant thing isn't what I eat, but more the portion size and the time that I take to eat and enjoy my food now rather than wolfing it down like I used to.

I eat out probably 3 nights out of the month. I try to not limit myself, and instead order what I fancy. I have the odd choc but my big downfall is crisps so I simply refuse to keep them in the house. The walk to the shops for them is usually long enough for me to rgain my willpower - but not always. At least I work off a crisp or two going to the shop to buy them

I must say I've really hit a brick wall since Christmas though. I've got half a stone to go and they always say the last few pounds are the hardest. I've started going to body pump class at my gym 2 - 3 times a week and that's started to make a difference. It'll be easier when it's not so cold outside and I can go for a nice wander round the shops at lunchtime, and through parks at the weekend - instead of driving everywhere because it's miserable out.

    HTH x

    missed this bit...

pickled onions, crabsticks, strawberries & raspberries, ice lollies (try to get pure fruit ones), sugar free jelly, avocadoes - great for energy!, usually have a piece of fruit before the gym as I don't get my dinner til later, mini sushi packs (most supermarkets do a pack for £1 with 4 or 5 small bits in) - not sure what else
