Not at all. I was looking at venues etc. BEFORE I was engaged!!

I'd say you're a bit slow - i'd looked BEFORE The official proposal! so don't worry - i'm more of a loser! ? x

Within a month of getting engaged we went to a wedding fair and booked our venue and photographer, , lol

Perfectly normal I'd say. I wanted to start looking the night we got engaged but H2B made me go to bed. I suppose as it was New Years Eve, by then 2.30am and I was sightly drunk on champagne I wouldn't have achieved much. Started on New Years Day when my folks came round!! ?

Sounds normal to me! We started looking as soon as we got home (we were away for the weekend when he proposed) - it was one thing I insisted on that we set a date ASAP or we would have never actually got married, just stayed engaged forever.

Where are you? Maybe some of us can help you find a venue.

2 days for me! Im surprised I lasted that long!

Er... well I was looking before we got engaged, then immediately after we got engaged. Then I stopped looking and then we booked it two and a half years AFTER we got engaged.

Phew!! Feeling slightly better now!! I had to wait yesterday until we got back from Wales, and started looking immediately! I didn't mean to. It just kinda sucked me in!!! We're going to sit down tonight and make a rough plan!

Completely normal Meggie I looked at venues the day after and we'd booked and set the date within a week of the proposal

I started looking at venues long before OH proposed ha ha - I liked to think of it as research!

8 days after proposing, we had the venue booked...

I'd started looking at venues online and got some brochures posted out to us early last year, after me and my husband had been discussing possibly getting married. You know, the usual chat of what you'd like and so on. Got chatting more about it and he turned round and was like "we've plenty of time to be looking into getting married, why all the rush in looking at brochures and venues when i haven't even proposed yet!". I was a bit gutted as i thought from the conversation that he was keen to get on with it, whereas he was only generally discussing things in a lighthearted way !

Roll on august, when we went on holiday with my daughter to Paris and Disneyland . . . . and he proposes under the Eiffel Tower !! I was gobsmacked because i didn't expect it as he'd seemed to retreat away from it all after our chats earlier in the year - we'd also been to 2 weddings, 1 in april, 1 in june and he seemed to become nervous of the whole wedding issue!

So for us, i still had all the brochures, had had a look at them and had a rough idea of what might be a possibility and so on, so we were in a position of ringing round venues to go and look at them within a week of returning from our holiday! I think we had the venue and registrar booked within a fortnight!! We got married this April, so a relatively short engagement.

I had been to view a venue twice (once with my bridesmaids, once with OH) about 3 months before he proposed

4 weeks later we're booking our venue tomorrow ?

I had been looking before we got engaged... I knew I wanted to get married abroad so wanted to research the possibilities! Lol.

My OH proposed on Christmas Day and on Boxing Day we travelled up to Scotland for our annual week away in the Highlands By the time we got there we had the date and mini budget sorted out so I would say that you are perfectly normal.

Once you know your date, it's best to get a venue sorted quickly as dependant on when it will be, the majority of venues may be booked as people book well in advance!!

We were a bit weird, i already knew what date i wanted to get married and everything before proposal!!! About 12 hours after proposal i had my venue booked haha, been planning it for last 25 years anyway so I knew what I wanted and i wasn't going to risk not getting it!!. also when i started booked stuff 18/20 months in advance some people had already started booking for after ours! x

Hmm I thought about eloping a couple of days after the proposal (and we are) and then a week or so later mooted the idea of a barn reception back in the UK. Got engaged late Jan, wedding fair in March, decided on a reception venue by about April I think. Haven't done too much since but we don't need to since the wedding planner abroad is taking care of all of that, and the reception venue manager is dealing with everything there. No stress!
