How much are you spending on BM dresses etc..If you dont mind my asking

Mrs G to be, 24 July, 2010 at 15:41 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hi Girls,

I am starting in a crazy search for BM dresses now. I was hoping to get them from a dept store such as BHS, Debenhams or House of Fraser, somewhere like that but to be honest i'm just not finding what I'm after.

So, it looks like going to a proper bridal wear shop for them, so they can be altered properly etc..So I was wondering as I'm on a pretty tight budget, and I have 4 BM's, how much are you all spending roughly on the dresses etc..

I popped in a couple of shops and your looking at at least £150+ then £45-100 for alterations! My budget is much lower than this, I'm hoping to get all dresses, shoes and jewellery for all 4 for £800. Do you girls think I may have under-budgeted or is there hope out there?

xx

Hi, my budget is about £100 each... I have 3 adult BMs and 3 FGs so it could work out expensive! I've been looking at Landy, Your Bridal and Light In The Box online for the adult dresses as there is a gret selection and they are much cheaper than bridal stores. Like you I am finding the high street stores don't have much choice xx

I was thinking of £150 each for my 2 adult b.maids and less for the smaller ones!

there are a couple of nice ones in Coast, one is £90 and one is £120.

one of my bridemaids realy likes a dress that she tried on in a bridal shop which is £160, so i might have to go over budget slightly for the 2 adults.

have u ever looked on Style Shake website? Ive never used it but ive heard some great reviews and they are such a bargain!

    Hi

I was hoping to spend about £100 on each dress, I am having 4 adults, then around £40 on the 2 glowergirls, then there will be shoes ontop of that, I am also on a tight budget so cant afford more than that, but the bridesmaids wont suit the same style, so alterations will be happen, but think i will get that done at a great alteration place in town, rather than paying shop prices.

We're going for 'normal' dresses rather than gowns for the bridesmaids so we'll be going on a high street shopping trip for mine. I've told them I will pay up to £70 each and if they pick dresses more expensive than that they will have to pay the top up.

Mine were about £43 each from Ebay - i have three adult bridesmaids. My little bridesmaid wore her dress at a wedding earlier this year and the colours match so she will be wearing it again.

I am not buying them mum has offered to buy them, I am not buying shoes and accessories as i want them to still look like individuals and not clones. I am also having quite an informal do so wanted them in cocktail dresses rather than gown - also want them to be able to wear again. They have been given a budget of £75 each, as i do not want their dresses accumulatively to cost more than mine Smiley smile

I went high street and my bridesmaids are all from Monsoon. We saw them at £135 originally, but went back to buy them a few weeks later and they we're reduced to £70 so bought them. A week later they were reduced further to £41 so I took them back and they gave me the cash back. I bought my flower girls in the monsoon sale too, it was £20. Alterations are costing about £20 for one as it just needs a few tweeks, and £50 for the other as the dress is an 8 and she is about a 4!

I've got 3. Their preferred dresses are £284 each. I'm paying for all their other bits and bobs too so I'm not expecting much change from c£1200. Ouch.

I'm planning on getting mine from a Forever Yours stockist as they are the most reasonably priced dresses I could find. I am having the same material but a different design for each of my 4 bridesmaids so it was easier to do it that way as I know the colours will match. Forever Yours have so many different designs and you can have them in whatever colour you want. They range from £120 to £150. I had a budget in mind of £100 per dress but I know that they will all find something they like there and they will all match so its worth the little bit extra.

I'm haviing 3 adult Bm's and 2 Fg's whos dresses are also from eBay at £24.99! There is also people on eBay that will re-create a peice you want - i.e find a super expensive wedding dress and give them all details they will re-make it with the same materials for 1/4 of the price!
