I hate you yodel (& Hermes)

Mrs C, 21 December, 2012 at 16:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 25

I ordered Christmas presents from boots for Mr C... I emailed them when it never arrived and they called the next day to say Hermes had lost it so were sending out another replacement. I checked online and yodel said they had left it in the back porch, I don't have a back porch! Boots investigated and sent me a form to complete to confirm I'd not received the second one. Yodel man turns up today with the parcel that he had left outside another address that was absolutely wringing wet. He said "it's only the box" in a very blasé way to which I said "that has cardboard wrapped Chrismas presents in it". He honestly couldn't care less and in my poorly state where I just needed to sit down I had no strength to argue. I told Boots that if they continued to use these couriers I would not be ordering online with them again. Bah.

Sounds about right - both of those couriers are cr@p, we've had all kinds of trouble with them.

    Is the stuff inside damaged?

So they didn't even resend another item, they just gave you the one that was drenched from before?!

Hermes are the ones who left our 2 parcels in the blue bin on collection day, needless to say we never saw the items!!

    I feel your pain.

Can I add ShCity-Link to the mix, whom my ex-FIL paid to bring their family's Christmas presents for L to be delivered on Thursday. They didn't show up and when chased, said it would be today. No sign again, so ex-FIL phoned them and they now say tomorrow. Hopefully. But definitely before Christmas. Hopefully.

Don't get me started on Yodel, it's actually unbelievable some of the crap experiences I've had with them. And I couldn't even complain as they don't answer the phone or respond to emails.

Oh I feel the same, regularly have a little rant about them!

I now won't order from anyone unless I know which courier they use - unless I absolutely have to. Our boots orders get delivered to the teeny one round the corner, which never have anything i'd want in, but will take the delivery and I can get it at a time that suits me.

Get hold of them on Twitter, they do respond there (sort of).

I had similar problems with Home Delivery Netowrk. I had a set of expensive PC speakers delivered but they left them with a house down the raod but never left a note or anything at my house. Luckily the people were honest nice people and brought them round that night. But they could have easily kept them and i would never have known. The box also looked like it had been kicked around and beaten up. I emailed both the website or ordered them from and HDN themselves but never heard a peep! Couriers don't care one bit about customer service.

HDN is now Yodel. Changed their name when they bought part of DHL last year (I think).

We even have trouble with the post office round here, swear they sit on stuff until they have enough to justify bringing it

Yodel are crap at picking stuff up too. When I my Kindle had a faulty screen, Amazon said they'd replace it FOC and arrange the collection of the damaged one. It was picked up by Yodel, all correctly wrapped and labelled.

After a couple of days, I got an email from Amazon basically saying as I hadn't returned the faulty kindle, they had charged my Credit Card for the cost of the new one. I rang them, explained Yodel had collected it and they said they'd investigate - turned out, despite it being correctly labelled, Yodel had delivered it to the wrong Amazon address.

    Utter numpties.

I tried but they didn't respond. I realised afterwards it's probably because my profile is set to private so they may not have even been able to see my tweets if they weren't following me (even though I'd @-ed them).

It gets better. ShCity-Link are now claiming to have attempted delivery tonight. When we were all home, and actually at the time they claim nobody was home, L was standing at the front door chatting to one of his friends! Lying swines. I'm ringing now to rip someone a new one.

I love Vistaprint, but HATE that they have to use Yodel! I ordered Christmas cards, calendars and save the dates last month. The day they were delivered, OH was in the house all day, no one knocked, no card was put through the door. I got home from work at 6pm, when we had the last lot of flooding, and Yodel had left the parcel on our soaked through door mat in the pouring rain. I had to take pictures to prove to Vistaprint the state they'd left the parcel in, before they resent the items. I stupidly then decided to order a mug from them for a friend for her Birthday. They said it would be delivered 14th December at the latest, which was fine because her Birthday was 19th. The 14th came and went, no sign of any parcel. So the next day I complained the Vistaprint. They gave me a full refund and resent another straight away, but of course the estimated delivery then was 24th. Today, OH was in our bedroom tidying when someone knocked on the door, he ran straight down the stairs and the person at the door was bending down. It was the Yodel woman about the leave the package on the doorstep AGAIN. What is wrong with these people?! And when you complain to the people you ordered from, why don't they complain to the delivery company?! It's ridiculous!

Is Yodel the one where they are basically set up like a franchise, so your level of service depends on the person running things in your local area?

Only had one experience with them and it was great, the guy tried to deliver but we weren't in so he left a card with his mobile number. We rang it and he rearranged delivery for a convenient time the next day, no problems. Our flat is hard to find as well but he didn't seem to have a problem finding it. I have heard only bad things about Yodel though so we must have got a good one!

Our problem is that our house is back to front - so we live in a terraced house, but it's the backdoor (which has no letter box) that backs onto the road, you have to walk around all of the houses to get to our front door/letterbox.. So, even when we do miss a delivery, often unless they email/phone we don't even know it, and they can't leave a card to tell us (they don't think to walk around).

I had a delivery due from Yodel last saturday, should have been between 7am and 12noon, as we had to pay for a set delivery slot but at 3pm it hadn't arrived! I rang and Very weren't at all apologetic and told me it'd be here sometime today... Which is fine, except that they charge extra for names day/time delivery.. I left a note being explicit saying there was a letter box at the front and was surprised to come back and find, that it had actually been pushed through!! I was in shock!

I feel lucky to have my Yodel man. His kid goes to C's school, and we always have a chat on the doorstep, and came up with an agreed safe place incase I wasn't in.

Some of you have had horrendous experiences.

    I hate Yodel.

My OH ordered a mug for me from Disney Store for Christmas. The first one that arrived had no handle because it'd been bashed/thrown I don't know what. Considering the mug is pretty solid it would have needed to be utterly abused to be broken like that. We managed to get another... but it's just another case where Yodel don't seem to care.

I had Hermes try and deliver a box to me a few months ago. It said online that it had been delivered to a secure location, and when the sender asked where that was, they said it was left in my trailer.

    We don't have a trailer...

So 3 days later it miraculously turns up on my doorstep soaked as it was raining. Luckily the contents weren't THAT wet and were wrapped in celophane...

H and i have also been on the reciving end of city links terrible services! We opened a baby plan account with mothercare ordering our new car seat and car base, The delivery was due to be made 10 days before i went into hospital ,On delivery day all was well ,city link delivered this massive box which i just assumed both the car seat and car base was in side , so i signed for it and off they went. I opened the box and it was just the car seat so i rang mothercare and said where is my base , they told me that it had been sent to the wrong depo and would be delivered the next day ,which was fine , we waited in all day so at 5 o clock we decided to see if it was still coming as we wanted to go out , we was given the number for city link and they told us that it hadnt been sent across from the other depo and as it was a friday they couldnt do anything untill the monday but it would come by monday pm, which to be honest didnt ring true as ive seen them deliver on saturdays as well ,so any way monday came and it still didnt come so H phoned mothercare to complain about the service and then rang city link who then told us that someone had tried to deliver but no one was in ,which is utter rubbish as we didnt leave the house all day and would have heard the door!!! H lost his temper a bit and said this is stressing my heavily pregnant wife out and i want my base! 9 oclock the next morning they deliver 2 car bases even though we only ordered one! Then mothercare sent us £30 gift voucher for the mess up!

    Feeling your pain right now.

Ordered three hampers from Thorntons on the 15 Dec. Two separate delivery addresses. The one which went directly to a friend got there within 2 days. The other two which were meant to have been delivered to us still haven't showed up. Just phoned up to complain and am awaiting a call back!

I had my first experience with Yodel this week. They called the other day to tell me that my washer would be delivered today between 10am and 2pm, they called me again at 10.am today telling me the driver would arrive in the next half an hour and he did. I was well impressed.

Do not even get me started on Yodel.

If my parcel hasn't been thrown over my back fence, put in my damp shed which I have now put a lock on or put in my smelly rubbish bin in my back garden (when I have provided them with details of a safe/dry place to leave it if I'm out) then they are not bothing to pick up parcels ready for collection and saying they're not there even when they deliver another one next to it.

I've heard of someone who witnessed a yodel van smash in to their fence and knock it down and then throw their parcel over the fence. And another person who also had their parcel put in their wheely bin which was then collected by the council as it was full of rubbish and it was bin day!

I think they only employ idiots....

There, that's my rant over! And breathe...!
