Live anywhere in the world (money is no object) Where would it be and why?

*Just a random pondering while im sat at work looking out at a very dark & grey sky, and wishing i was a million miles away!

Australia. I lived there for a year in 2005 and would go back in a heartbeat. It's not just the weather but the attitude x

I was randomly thinking about this the other day, I really don't know to be honest. Possibly somewhere in the US, or a massive old castle like house in this country, somewhere full of hidden passages and that kind of thing.

A capital city, somewhere. Like the idea of either Paris or London. I just speak better English than I do French !

I think I'd probably pack up work and keep my house here and buy another right on the seafront on the little coastal road between St Maxime and St Tropez in the south of France. Me and Mr Dooby have driven along that road many times on holiday and daydreamed about what it must be like to live in a beautiful villa looking right out to sea with a lovely patio and swimming pool virtually built on the rocks. Also it would nice to have a small jetty at the end of the garden so we could hop in the boat and whizz around the corner to get our shopping rather than sit in the traffic.

So i'd spend my summers on the Riveria and my winters at home.

Now I just need to win the lottery this weekend and make it all come true ?

The UK. This country is bloody brilliant and not enough people realise that.

Beacon Hill area of Boston or beach house near Salem - simply because I simply adore New England. We're actually hoping on doing it sometime in the future!

Whtiby in North Yorkshire. I would move there in a minute, simply wonderful gorgeous place. Atmospheric and striking.

    Florida or Canada

Never been to Canada but think it looks lovely.

Been to Florida a number of times and loved it, however holidays are probably nothing like living there full time.

Australia for me too. It is a long time since I was there (1995!) but I loved the climate and also the laid back way of life. Not keen on the spiders and snakes mind.

Other than that I would love to head off somewhere in the Caribbean and set up a beach bar. Something which would be very relaxing but with the sun, sea and sand available constantly.

Sigh. Makes me want to go now. Wonder what the EuroMillions jackpot is this week?

ETA - BGB you are so right, one of my dreams is to have an old fashioned pub somewhere either in Hampshire / Surrey with gorgeous countryside and a little river or to have a house with very large glass windows on the coast overlooking the sea. There are beautiful areas in the UK and you can't beat, for me, a sea view

I'd have a house by the sea instead of the suburbs but apart from that there's nothing any other country in the world could offer me that would make me move.

Mine would be somewhere hot like the Carribean, or Jamaica. Even SA would be great.

Failing that, i've always loved Oz, i've been once on holiday but would so love to return.

I'd still live in London, I love it here. Although I'd like to move to an apartment on the river somewhere.

If money was no object I'd buy an apartment in Cannes and one in Manilla as well.

I'd move to somewhere in Cornwall, trouble is there are too many amazing places there to choose from. I'm a firm believer that this country is far better than many appreciate.

I'm a flitter, not a settler, so I'm finding it hard to choose (or maybe I've just not found that place yet).

If I had to pick one place, it would be a toss up between Paris and Glasgow- amazing bustling and friendly cities which are only a short hop from the most stunning countryside.

In reality though, I see me having a (UK) city pad for the working week or for weekends in town, a (scottish) village pad for the weekend (possibly in Islay), an apartment in Paris and a villa in Mougins. Not much to ask for, eh?

The UK - I can honestly say I would not move country.

I might, if I won the lottery, buy 6000 acres and put a ruddy great fence round it to keep everyone else off though!

I'm a Londoner through and through.

But I'd like to live in a magic place where one door lead out into the middle of the city (on a quiet road, but in the middle of things in a neighbourhood) and another door lead to a forest and wild isolated countryside, preferably with a coastline. ?

You may think I'd be ideally suited to the suburbs from that description, but honestly, for me, I can think of nothing worse (no offence to any suburban dwellers).

Seriously, I love London and the variety of people, so as long as I can keep visiting the coast and the countryside regularly I'll stick where I am.

I would have a house in Scotland and one in the Pacfic NorthWest of North America (which is scotland but on a larger scale!) as I haven't explored enough of that area and have loved what I have seen out there....

I'm with LouM on this one about being a flitter. I love living in Central London (City) but would ideally spend four months here, four months in Waiheke Island in New Zealand and the remainder of the time between Whistler, Zurs, Khao Lak and Penang. I could quite happily live in an eternal summer with the odd skiing trip thrown in for good measure, as long as it's sunny.

    One day.......

Sicily, without a doubt. I fully intend having a place out there at some point to spend the winters because I hate the cold weather over here. I would like to have a house in the Malvern area as well.

If money were no object I would have apartments in London and New York but would have my 'main' house anywhere hot and beautiful! I lived in Bermuda for 6 years and that was nice but wouldn't move back. Australia and NZ are too far to pop to London and NY but I loved visiting Thailand and would happily move to South East Asia, also have a hankering to live in an African country at some point.

H and I are moving abroad in 6 years time, so I have plenty of time to make up my mind! (Not that money is no object - we'll only be able to go where there's a job!)

    Totally agree with Baron.

I would have an amazing apartment overlooking the Thames and a homely cottage somewhere near the sea for weekends.

Only the small matter of a few million quid to sort out...
