I'm Having a Baby After a 10 Year Gap - *HORMONES Please Proceed With Caution*

The two questions I keep getting asked are: Was it planned? and Are you excited? Answers to these questions are 'no' and 'yes'. Thought I would get them out of the way as I hear them all the time.

Strong family history especially on the mums side. Fertility treatment, age, ethnic origin, (asian women have a high risk of having twins) and of course if you have already had them before!

Identical twins are more of a fluke, but non identical arent.

The burn as you push them out - I didn't experience that with Little T as I had an emergency c-section

My mum's dad (my grandfather) was one of 9, of these 9, there were two sets of twins.

My Grandad was also a red-head, as are 2 of my cousins and my husband.

Please tell me I am not destined for ginger twins??!! ?

Haha! I actually quite like red hair (hence Mr C being of the red hair variety... although more auburn now)

Mr C is the one with the issues really... he has said "if they are ginger I am pushing them back in until they are done"

Hehe I remember their dad's mum saying to her other son when they were born 'Oh no they have red hair'. My mum went mental with her as she has ginger twins too (my wee brothers!) I love red hair! It has taken me a very long time to accept it, I got such a hard time at school for having red hair and now my girls are going through the same thing but theyre a bit more confident than I was at their age.

    Redheads rock!

Thank you! I'm off to the doctors on Friday to let them know so I guess they'll get the ball rolling.

Quick question: My doctors has their own midwife but it is a bus ride and a walk away. I have a Sure Start centre across the road that has midwives - can I ask to be referred to them?

I wouldnt think it would be a problem. Our women are referred to their nearest community midwife, not their doctors surgery so it might work that way for your area too but just say to them that you would rather go to the local one as the other one is too far for you to travel.

Oh and also there are 11 years between me and my elder sister, 13 between me and brother, and there was 12 between me and my other bro but he sadly died 2 years ago, my Mum re-married my Dad and then they had me so very similar situation (apart from the passed brother of course)! We all get along great and theres loads of cute photos of when I was a baby with me on my sisters shoulders and stuff, she treated me like her little doll apparently. ?

    Congratulations!!! ?

No question, just that me and my sister have a 16 year gap (which is more of a gap than my mum and sister, as my mum had her at 15) and we are so close, she is my best friend ? she said to me that she hated it when I was a born as she had been the only girl for so long (we have a brother who is 5 years older than me, 11 years younger than my sis) but she has always looked out for me & I'm actually glad we have sucha big age gap as I don't think I would get along with a sister who was only a couple of years older than me as much!!

So I guess big gaps can be a huge blessing in disguise, as well as the fact like you have said in previous replies that you're married, a homeowner and much more secure!

Hope everything goes perfectly for you and I'm sure your children will love being able to pick little one's middle name!!

    Congratulations again Mooey!

Mrs C, my family is exactly like this too! My Grandad was one of 9 and there were two sets of twins. He didn't have the red head thing though, although I do have a hint of the ginge under some lights, so I may have the chance of ginger twins!
