Invitations! *squee*

Blonde Viki, 6 January, 2012 at 16:31 Posted on Planning 0 32

My invitations arrived just before Christmas but I haven't had a chance to pop on and flash them until now!

Sadly the colours don't seen to photograph well in this light, but the card is pistachio green and the ribbon is dusky pink - honest! I'm really pleased with them Smiley laugh

Now to start getting them ready to send out and putting an RSVP list on my spreadsheet (it always comes back to the spreadsheet!!) - then it's really happening!

*also ignore the fact you can just about make out that my cat is trying to grab one in the top right!!

Awhhh they are really pretty Smiley smile

I plan to do a comprehensive invite like yours. I think by including an RSVP card it means you'll get answers back sooner as prospective guests won't have to bother with running to the shop to grab a card, I also plan to put in SAEs too. Nothing worse than chasing people to find out whether they are attending or not. My mum & dad got married a few years back, it was a nightmare trying to get in touch with some people to find out whether they were coming or not. Her venue were getting impatient waiting on final numbers - thanks to the wallies who didn't reply! That's one thing I will be doing without!!! Anyway, enough of that!! Your invites are supoib! Smiley laugh xx

I met a lady at the Landmark Arts Fair in Teddington. She does everything to your description but if you have no idea (like me!) she has the biggest box of coloured card, ribbon and stuff including loads of sample invitations to play about with until you find something you like. She's been very lovely to work with and I can't wait to see her again for my orders of the day and menus. Her website is a bit basic but it's here - http://www.ribbonsandink.co.uk/

    Thanks for the kind comments!

    Lovely!

Make sure you find yourself a lovely box or box folder to store the RSVPs in once you've had enough of dusting around them. They're lovely to keep - particularly those where people send you cards or write notes to you. ?

They´re really nice! We´re having a pink and green theme too, Oh and we´ve also got birds on our stationery as well! I guess it all starts to feel more "real" when you send out the invitations!

So beautiful - jealous! I've never understood it when people say the invite doesn't matter. It's the first impression of the day and your guests are going to be wowed!

This! I have one of those photo albums with the film that sticks - does that make any sense? All my rsvps have gone into that.

    They're really gorgeous BV.

Thanks both I will look for something! I have a little space on the back of the RSVP cards that says 'send us a message' - it was initially intended for the people who can't make it, so they could be read out during the speeches, but in the end we left it open, as we thought it would be fun to see what people wrote. Keeping them is a must!

Thanks for all the lovely comments, I can't wait to send them all out Smiley laugh

Really love your invites and glad you're happy with them too. Wish the colours had photographed a little clearer - we're having a dusky pink/sage green theme so thinking pink/pale green/white invites to match but can't find many examples around.

Love the ribbons too. I hadn't thought of doing knots instead of bows down the side of ours, but they look brilliant and would be so much easier to DIY. I was having mini nightmares of tying messy bows! Thank you x

So do I! The pistachio/sage green colours seem to be quite hard to photograph 'true'. Too much light and they go very white/yellow, not enough and they look murky. I hope my Tog can make a better job of it on the day, or no one is going to have a clue what my colour scheme is!!

I'm a hideous photographer so to be fair, whatever colour something is, I'm bound to butcher it!!

They will look gorge in professional photos, and what a lovely colour scheme you have! ?

They are gorgeous! I am planning on doing a very similar style. I like the little cards that are in them too. Can you give me a bit more information about what is on them as I can't see from the picture. I think this is a good idea as it gives all the information in one handy place!

    Sure!

Accommodation - lists 3 hotels in the nearby vicinity, of varying budgets and gives distance to venue along with info about the most local large towns if people want to find a different hotel to those suggested

Directions - road directions to the venue, nearest train station, taxi numbers and the venue's parking arrangements

On the Day card - mini 'order of the day' with the basic version of the timetable so people know what's happening when, bottom of the card says 'presents not presence' to indicate the position re gifts

Reply Card - has space for the guests to cross out will/will not be attending and then fill in names of those coming, then a space for dietary preferences, on the back it invites people to send us a message (those from the declines will be read out during the speeches)

They aren't comprehensive but I think they cover most of the things people will want to know.
