Invites

Chippet, 28 July, 2013 at 15:59 Posted on Planning 0 4

Sorry I know this has probably been done to death.

Were getting married on Jan 18th and am wondering when to send out our invites? Most of our guests will either have to stay over in the area or organise group transport home - hotel is approximately hour from home.

I kinda feel like at this stage I'm got nothing to do until I know our numbers, so was wanting to get them out fairly soon. Is 5months before really way too early?

Or send out save the date cards, I would respond to one of these straight away to confirm attendance informally. We also sent out invites early with a long RSVP.

I'm not keen to send out Save The Dates, nearly everyone already knows the wedding date anyway and I'm trying to keep costs to a minimum

We sent ours out in April with an RSVP of July 1st for our 31st August wedding. So about 4 months before, if we were having a bigger wedding we would have sent them earlier but with only 45 day invites we thought that was plenty early as pretty much everyone knew the date by word of mouth.

    Hi there

Usually 3-6 months is the average time to send out invites. It really depends upon the number of people attending and if any guests will be coming from far away/abroad. These guests would obviously need more notice to book accommodation/flights etc. If your wedding is small and most people already know about it via word of mouth then a shorter time of 3/4 months would be sufficient. Do make sure you do not leave your RSVP date too late as you will need to organise wedding breakfast stationery and possible order of service/order of the day and you would need to have accurate numbers and names.

Please let me know if I can be of any help.

    Best wishes!

    Samantha
