is it possible to LOVE more than one dress or is there always 'The One' **FLASH**

Mrs*W*2B, 8 August, 2012 at 10:14 Posted on Planning 0 7

I've tried on a number of dresses and most just weren't for me but i LOVE 3 dresses...i'd feel amazing in any of them and felt they suited my figure and theme etc BUT my mum thinks i still haven't found 'the one' as you are supposed to love one dress over all the others whereas i have 3 that i'd feel happy in...has anybody else been in a similar situation where they have either bought one of their 'top dresses' or waited and found one they loved even more? at the moment the dresses i love are all very different ...

Ellie - Charlotte Balbier

Maggie Sottero - Geneva

Maggie Sottero - Malina

ALL would have added lace straps/capped sleeves!!

am i being silly...have i not found 'the one' or is it possible to find more than one and pick? i'd be happy ordering and wearing any of the above! x

Sorry should have added... i have tried on a lot of different styles and this is 100% the style that suits me, i thought i would go princess poofy and from trying on what i didnt think id go for like you say, i've definatley found the shape for me....i have tried on all 3 of these dresses yes, so i know they all look as good on as in pics (well without the extra skinny model haha!) so now im stuck! im going to keep looking but i just cant see me liking anything more than these 3 maybe just finding others on a par which at the moment is very high! x

I think you've definitely identified the style you love because all three are a similar shape. However, if you're going to add cap sleeves to the dress then the back of dress one & two both scoop down quite low at the back so the sleeves/straps would look quite long from the back, don't forget to take that in to consideration.

I'm in "The One" camp, but only because it happened to me. I think your perfect dress is just around the corner!

Thanks ladies, there aren't many dresses that i like the shape of that already have sleeves hence attaching them! i have tried the sort of sleeve i want pinned onto all 3 dresses and as the straps are lace they don't look too long at the back as they go thinner towards the bottom, i dont want a bolero as its an august wedding so still want my back to be uncovered incase its boiling! i think il keep looking but im a very practical person and i can't imagine just trying it on and deciding i have to have it there and then but who knows...im going to another shop tomorrow so il see if any more either join the top 3 or feel even more amazing!! thanks for the advice x

I have to say that I never found "The One" and there was this huge pressure around it all. I spoke to several of my friends who are married and lots of them said that they never found "the one". In the end, I had two dresses, both very different. My choice came down to which one wowed my bridesmaid and my mum the most, plus it was 20% off! Sadly, I am not in "The One" camp...but kind of wish I was. I'm very happy with my choice now but I did have a little cry and a bit of a panic once I ordered my dress because it wasn't "the one". Luckily, my best friend helped calm me down and after trying it on again the day after was I was pleased. The lady in the store said it happens so frequently as some don't find "the one".

P.S. I did try on about 50 dresses! Maybe I'm just ultra picky, but I don't think I am. It was all a new experience for me and it's only once in a lifetime you go to buy one!

My advice is to go with the one that suits your style most and is the most comfortable.

    Hope that helps, Dx

I tried on tons of dresses, definately 30, possibly more and had narrowed it down to 2 but I wasnt feeling like one was "the dress" I ended up finding "the dress" yesterday..I had seen it online and had to try it on, it was definately the right dress and I knew as soon as I put it on.

That being said both of the dresses I had picked would have looked lovely..

I would tend to agree that you can totally love various dresses for different reasons! They are all so beautifully made and can be gorgeous in different ways. It's so hard to choose just one!

I found several I loved but I didn't find 'the one'. Maybe I would have done if I'd had more time, or gone to more shops... or been willing to spend more than £1000. I saw several I really loved the look of on the hanger, but I didn't try them because either they were £1500 plus, or the shop knew they couldn't order it in time for my wedding in Dec.

I did narrow it down to three that I loved. Maybe none were perfect in every regard, but I did think they were all gorgeous and could have bought any of them! But they were actually very different in style and even shape. I loved the 'impact' and bridal feel of the princess style, but also loved the flattering slimline shape. Loved ornamented detail and lace, but also loved elegant simplicity!

So in the end I stuck with my bargain charity shop dress and decided that would be just as good ;-)

So from my experience I'd say go for it and don't worry that there should be 'one' - but I know others have had different experiences. ?
