Is it too early for a dress?!?!?! *** updated***

Bride2b27, 29 August, 2010 at 20:08 Posted on Planning 0 13

I don't get married for another year and 9 months but i have saw a picture of a dress that i really really LOVE! Is it too early to go and try it on?

Im scared that i go and try it on and end up with a dress so early on but at the same time i don't want it to become discontinued or something if i wait! aaarrggghhhh

Also, it may not even suit me and then i can forget about it.

What should i do? When did everyone else start looking? Im so confused ?

Thanks girls! x

Thanks to everyone who responded! i went and tried on the dress today! he he?

I still really really like it but think i need to go and try some more on just to make sure - there is a deal on just now where there is £100 off the price as it is a new line! So don't want to rush right in there (as i would normally do!)

Just wonderng, the service in the shop wasn't brilliant, i just felt that i was left standing in the middle of the shop with a dress on, the woman didn't seem to make much effort to suggest other styles etc - is this normal? Felt it kind of took the shine off it a little Smiley sad

I'll keep you all posted!

Thanks again x

Go for it! It's never too early to start looking or trying them on. Surely it would be worse for you to never to be able to try it on and always wonder, than to try it on with bags of time and know for sure one way or another?! And you never know, you may well love it, buy it and have one less thing to worry about nearer the time ?

I'm getting married in June 2012, and already have my dress ? Saw it, tried it on, and fell in love with it. It is lovingly stored at present, however, keep having to put it on.

Have a good look about first, i did a lot of my dress research on American dress sites as they seem to be more detailed, and have better pictures. I then found a uk stockist and went from there.....

Good luck, but most of all, have lots of fun...... it is certainly one of those experiences.

Definitely go for it!!!! I'm getting married in Sept 2013 and I already have my dress cos they were going to discontinue the one i wanted. And besides there is no harm in looking. Going trying it on will also give u an idea of the kind of dresses u like and will suit so u know what to look for in the future.

Have lots of fun trying on pretty dresses

I'm in exactly the same position, except I've now actually tried the dress on and LOVE it. Wedding not until May 2012 so am worried it's too soon, plus I was looking forward to months of shopping trips! But in a dilemma as don't want to leave it and then not find one I like as much... Tricky!

I found my dress 2 yrs and 5 months before my wedding. (the time we spent planning it) In fact I saw it before we got engaged (doing my work I might add). I ordered it in September 2008 to come in the shop in September 2009.

Dresses get discontinued - if you like it and are sure it's the one then it's not too soon at all. I was looking forward to the shopping trips too, but so glad I bought my dress when I did - I would have been gutted if I'd left it and missed out.

I got mine in a sample sale in January 2009 for our wedding in 3 weeks time - I love it just as much, it STILL fits me like a glove and it was a bargain too - got it for half price! I would say if go for it, it's definitely not too early! xx

I dont think its can ever be too early especially if u have already seen the one!!! I wouldnt want to risk having it discontinued and then being let down.

Try it on, maybe? At least you'll know the styles that suit you!

Go for it - try it on, you might like it, you might not, so nothing to lose. When I was dress shopping the styles I loved on paper looked cr*p on! Which was v disappointing, but taught me about what style of dress I needed for my height/shape....

if you buy it however, you HAVE to be very disciplined about not looking endlessly at other dresses, getting dress envy or dress wobbles - there have been brides on here who have bought early and ended up with 2 full priced dresses, with the 'spare' one worth almost nothing as second hand, even unworn... which at the price of some dresses, its money thrown down the nearest toilet imo!

So thats the only risk I'd say! Other than your weight changing dramatically if you buy it now at the size you are!

    Flash a pic?!
