Is This Okay to Wear as a Guest

*JLS*, 9 August, 2012 at 08:53 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 24

I am a guest at a wedding in September and I wanted to be able to wear my wedding shoes which are red. I have been trawling the internet and have found some dresses that I like, I just wondered if they were a bit OTT for a guest to wear:

As you can see, I am quite fancying the swing style dresses 🙂

What do we think ladies?

TIA

I think they are gorgeous and would be perfect as a guest

They are perfect dresses for a guest but not sure I'd match red shoes and a red dress. It's too matchy matchy for me.

I really like all of them and don't think they're OTT at all. Although, if I was wearing red shoes, I'd be leaning towards black.

Definitely OK to wear as a guest.

I'm wearing one similar to number 1 for my cousins wedding next year.

    They're all fine for a wedding! (Although I don't like no3).

But personally, with red shoes I might be looking at a white and red style 50s dress rather than full on red.

I'd agree with KBS. Gorgeous dresses and fine for a guest but not sure I'd go for a red dress and red shoes. The first one would work though I think

    Lovely.

Someone wore a very similar one to no 1 to our wedding and my H made more positive comments on it than he did about my dress.

Excellent advice as always. I think I am leaning towards no. 1 as I agree that red dress and red shoes may be too much. I had a chuckle to myself as I emailed H the same pictures and he likes number 3 and 6 - men eh?!

    No1 is perfect.

ETA: By that I mean number one is perfect, not no-one is perfect!

Not a fan of number 3, but the rest are lovely.

Have to agree with others though about matching red dress and red shoes. I would personally add in another colour (white or black possibly) to break it up.

I'd say pashmina, only cos I don't suit shrugs and can't get them on gracefully

    Pashmina always!

If you must do anything then pashmina, shrugs are awful things. Personally I don't use either and just brave the chill. They ruin outfits.

Personally I vote shrug, go for black as the main colour of the dress is black.

If they don't suit you, then pashmina!

Think I might be treating myself to the 2nd dress pictured - just beautiful!
