Just a quick question to you guys and gals, how important it is to have wedding insurance? Has anyone of you done that?

Acctually came on here looking for the same answer! We've just payed the deposit on our venue/wedding package and I was just going over the paperwork which states wedding insurance is advised just in case of cancellation, the way it was worded was cancellation in their behalf, surely if they cancelled they' have to give us a full refund anyway!! Seriously cant afford another expense though : ( I shall look into it further and report back here with my findings xx

Yes it’s important. Would you go on holiday without travel insurance? You are probably investing a lot of money in the wedding, even at the deposit stage most couples will have paid out a lot, can you afford to lose that amount?

We don’t hear about it often but things can go wrong, people become ill, weather can completely disrupt the day, suppliers can go bankrupt.

The only thing to remember is it doesn’t cover someone changing their mind.

Policies start from approximately £40, obviously cover depends on the the amount you want to insure but most brides will spend more on their hair or makeup.

No I don’t work for an insurance company, but we are insuring our daughter’s wedding as we could not afford to lose the cost involved.

We did it, it only cost £25 as a one off cost which is absolutely nothing if we were faced with losing the money we've paid for the wedding! As the hotel we're getting married at is having an extension built I just kept thinking what if something goes wrong and the whole place collapses (a bit dramatic I know) so having the insurance is just peace of mind.
