What are your thoughts?

I’m not sure what to make of it all.

My opinion keeps changing, firstly I thought it was easy to accuse someone that can't answer. Now though it seems more and more 'evidence' is coming to light. Or is it more people jumping on the band wagon.

I just don't know what to think. ???????

Always thought he was creepy. I think some of the people that have come forward will be jumping on the bandwagon but I think the majority are being honest about it. Also with the fact that he had been investigated before by TV programmes but those programmes were shelved for whatever reason, I think there is enough evidence about to assume the basics are correct and true.

I think it does bring to light a bigger issue within the BBC though, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I think the biggest issue now is to investigate why nothing was done. He's dead, there's nothing we can do about him, but there are obviously lots of people who have covered this up and they need to be found and dealt with. I completely understand why the victims didn't want to come forward but how any adult who saw this and didn't say anything can live with themselves I don't know.

All I'm sure of is I'd rather not keep having to see his face all the time - he's always made my skin crawl regardless of what he may or may not have done.

It's all a bit mad and I doubt we'll ever get anywhere close to the whole truth... if we get any at all!

Agree with this too. I was watching that panorama last night and one bloke in particular stood out as a complete twunt who almost seemed gleeful that it had all come out, yet took no responsibility for the fact that he ‘knew’ and did nothing!

It might bring the people who covered it up to justice and make those who are currently doing the same think twice. I would be very surprised if this wasn't still going on.

I wasn't sure until I heard that his family had decided to have his headstone removed and destroyed. That made up my mind, if there was any doubt his family would have been the first to try and defend him and I haven't heard anything from them about him.

We have a TV on at work (on mute) and I was getting sick and tired of the constant pictures of him and was glad when it disappeared. Today they are back ☹️

I'm pleased he's on the telly all the time if it gets people asking the right questions.

But will people ask the right questions? It think there is A LOT more to it and a lot will still be covered up regardless of the questions raised.

They were talking about it on Loose Women today (I am home poorly sick so crap tv is a must!) and it got quite heated. The main points I took from it were that things were very different back then but big british establishments shouldn't be able to pick and choose what they see and have the option of covering up stories that suit them. Was he protected because he made so much money for charity and therefore looked good for the BBC?

My stomach turned when they showed a video of him and Gary Glitter sitting themselves in between lots of vulnerable little girls.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I have to say I never found the old man in a tracksuit character particularly appealing.

There is a lot more to it than has been reported and even if it is covered up further, if people look beyond Savile and wonder how he got away with it and why it was covered up so much for so long the truth can't be stopped.

I would hope so Riz but the higher up the social and political ladder a person is the more protection they will get!

I reckon my mind will be totally made up once I watch Panorama. I think his family knew what with the headstone and now the revelation from his great niece on TV yesterday. (His sisters granddaughter).

I personally know two people who claim to have had a very unpleasant experience with him. He's always seemed very creepy and odd to me.

There was something on the Portsmouth News website today about someone coming forward because Saville assaulted them on Southsea Common. I don't disbelieve it, I think he was always a bit dodgy - but it's hard to believe it happened on that scale.

Yup. Shame that some of them are dead and will never be brought to justice either.

That's utterly disgusting. I've watched both the Panorama and Exposure programmes on him and the evidence is pretty conclusive. The amount of of people that helped cover it up was just wrong, I just wonder how many more celebs were involved too.

I find it very difficult to watch or read into too much. I actually have some very fond personal memories of Jimmy Savile as my Grandpa knew him and I met him at least once that I can remember and he was lovely to me, and as far as I'm aware, my Grandpa was quite fond of him too.

I'm not saying its not all true because the stories coming through do seem quite damning, I just find it hard letting go of those memories I have, especially as they closely involve my Grandpa

Two girls on my train this morning were talking about this. One of them said 'I know what he's done is horrible but he's dead, cant it just be forgotten?' her mate replied about it being more than what he had done and it was about the cover up.

I'm pretty sure most of the girls he abused wish it could be forgotten, but generally, I doubt you forget something like sexual assualt!! I nearly butted in and told her so too! But i refrained.

I do think that he should have been brought to justice sooner. There is clearly a cover up going on here. No matter what he did for charity etc, that doesnt give anyone the right to abuse teenage girls.

And I heard yesterday that someone said they were teenagers and it wasnt the worst kind of sexual assualt!! Shocking.
