Just back from dress trying on - WOOO-HOOO!!! - ***Updated***

VikingPrincess, 24 August, 2010 at 13:06 Posted on Planning 0 41

Unfortunately no flash as I was strictly not allowed to take a pic of myself in it unless / until I ordered the dress.

BUT:

You may remember about 3 months ago I went to try same dress - Ronald Joyce Chelsea - and the sample in the shop was a size 14 which we could neither pull past my boobs nor past my hips no matter which way we tried to get into it! Now, after losing some weight, we were able to at least step into it and pull it past my hips and see what it looked like ON me rather than held tightly against me! Of course we couldn't do buttons up or even get the back end to end (GRRRR for my 40DDs!!!) but at least I had it ON and it looked beautiful, it's definitely IT!I was really impressed because the lady in the shop said sizes go out of the window when it comes to bridal as they tend to be on the small side so it was encouraging that this time we were able to squeeze me into a 14 sample which is more like a 12 really!

Oh here we go, seeing as I am so giddy, here're some flashes of it on the model though:

Awww I wish, fluffy! But my Mum is giving me the money for the dress and she hasn't quite finished saving for it, bless her - she lives in Romania and salaries / pensions are quite pitiful over there and she's been tutoring a friend's daughter for her exams (Mum's a retired French and Romanian Literature teacher) so she could make up the money for my dress quicker - aww bless her, my eyes are welling up for my beloved Mum! And also I daren't order it until I lose another stone or so!

LOL Claire - Janelle / Janelle Royale was on my initial shortlist of 10 dresses after my initial hours and hours of trawling the internet for dress ideas!

Aww so glad you guys like it - I was having doubts as many girl friends have not been very enthusiastic (I think they all prefer lace and tulle, or big dresses, but i am only 5ft1in so I don't look good in either!)!

    Thanks everyone!

The other one, the "backup" - as they keep threatening discontinuing the dress as it's from 2009 Collection, is another RJ dress from the 2010 Collection, called Layla:

Hi BoroKate! yes, the little bolero comes with the dress included in the price but I will not be wearing it as I have a fur-trimmed satin cape I am wearing. As I am not wearing a veil, my Oh will "lift" the hood and everyone will see the tiara.

OMG! Really? I don't know anyone else even looking at this dress, so great to hear someone else likes it! Does she have any pics of her in it that she'd let you flash (or even privately email if she doesn't want it on Internet?)?? I'd love to see a "real bide" in it!

My mum is mad now that i flashed her LOL!

Update - today - I have been to yet another shop - recommended by our very own MEL B here - and tried on some lovely dresses! the ladies were brilliant there and so friendly! Another dress was very nice, similar to the dress I flashed here in first post - this was called Chanel, also from Ronald Joyce, and has just gone to no 3 on my top... Friday I am trying on Layla from RJ too!

Huge N&P to a fellow hitcher who recommended me the shop I went to today!

Thanks - that's my fear, that I will also love it when i try it on and then I couldn't decide between the two! However, yesterday at the shop they had a similar one to Chelsea, called Chanel (see below) and I tried that on as well and it looked REALLY slimming and elegant so that's now a 3rd fave. I really now think i have to decide between these 3.

    CHANEL - Ronald Joyce - 2009 Collection:

Quick update - not going anywhere now! Was supposed to be at Gowns UK in Morley at 2 pm today but as I was heading for the door, coat on, handbag in hand, I realised I must have lost my bus pass on my way home yesterday so I can't go for the appointment. I have no money on me at all (I am on hols at the moment, at home). I have rung up Metro and been told I'll have to go to their offices in Leeds, with a new photograph and £5 fee for replacement! Grrrr!
