I'm not a Manchester bride so can't help with your query, though there are a few who I'm sure will pop on and give you some advice!

However, I just wanted to say congratulations on your engagement and welcome to hitched!! Smiley smile

    Welcome to Hitched.

There have been a couple of Manchester threads recently - not sure if they'll be of any help?

Thanks for all your replies! Pandorasbox: I am looking for something quite traditional with gardens and that, without having to go miles out of manchester. We're looking to have a wedding breakfast and an evening reception I was looking at Heaton Park but im not too sure what it is like inside, i mean obviously you have to go and look for yourself, i just thought until that is possible I could try to get some opinions.

Thank you to everyone who has replied! Smiley smile

I'm based in Liverpool but I've seen a few threads about Manchester recently I'm sure so these will be of help to you but I have a couple from Manchester who are getting married in The Midand Hotel which looks beautiful so might be worth a look. x

    Hi!!

i've commented on a few of the other threads but going off this i think heaton hall (in heaton park) has closed for the time being if thats where you mean? there was an article about there and wythenshaw hall closing for now due to council cuts so i wouldn't book there!

    what are your numbers??

we are having 120 for sit down and 150 in the evening so not looked at any very small venues or anything too ridiculously expensive but if you want traditional we went to look at statham lodge, was very nice, lady was nice, bit too pricey for us but they were flexible but was a tad too traditional for us (patterned carpet etc)...quarry bank mill is less traditional, more a blank canvas but got lovely grounds and plenty of photo ops!...peruga restaurant is lovely and nice surroundings but only for a small wedding (especially if your having the ceremony there too)...castlefield rooms nice, modern, surroundings are more 'city' than greenery!! and then finally we found hollin hall hotel near macclesfield...its lovely! and got lovely surroundings and has various sized rooms and isn't too expensive so in our opinion the best option overall....

if you have a bigger budget heaton house farm is fab and loads of grounds...theres lots of others that look lovely but unfortunatly not been to see them as we promised not to look at anything we couldn't afford!! Smiley tongue

depends how flexible you are with your dates and numbers...e.g you could get a fab venue on a weekday out of peak season that would usually cost thousands and thousands but we were limited because we wanted a summer saturday with 120 people!!

    good luck Smiley smile x

Yes Heaton Hall is def closed, I know Ordsall hall has just been done up and reopened for weddings.

I looked at Worsley Court House - holds 80 for sit down and 120(i think for evening), was lovely but too small for our numbers.

I loved the Castlefield Rooms, however we changed our minds as we wanted a summer wedding and it is always packed in Castlefield in the summer and we risked losing our guests to sitting outside!

We finally booked Bolton School - literally just off M61 and Bolton town centre for transport and hotels. Here is a sneaky peak
