live band prices

Hi everyone!

So we want a live soul band for the wedding - after much googlig I have found some truely dodgy ones (glorified karaoke singers) and some super bands which I have got quotes from.
Quotes coming back at £**** for 2x 60 minute sets and use of PA system for ipod use etc and to come from 6pm til 1am.

I know it is a lot but is it worth it? Is this what I should be expecting? Any one know of any midlands/shropshire based soul bands!?

Thanks!

Our band is £650 for 2x60minute set and DJ until 1am. Theyre not a soul band though. Although when you consider the amount of people in the band, travel costs etc then I suppose £1300 is ok.

Thanks Smiley smile Makes me feel better!

It is 8 piece band, travelling 40 miles so I think they would have to charge that much to make it worth their while! Plus they are awesome - and professional!

Sooo want to book them. Music is so important to us - it would make our day and would happily sacrifice a wedding car and a leather bound photo album for a night of brilliant entertainment!

It may sound a lot of money but how many people are in the band? £1000 split between 4 people, taking off fuel, possibly van hire etc you can see how it soon doesn't become a great deal of money for an evening's work, including the ipod and other equipment which they've obviously had to pay out for etc and will probably need to save up to replace bits in due course.

Edit: You said the same thing whilst I was replying Smiley smile I'd say for an 8 piece band - which is at least 2 vehicles probably - that's pretty good value.

Have you been to see them yet? Ours do gigs in pubs So people can see them before you decide. Seen them on you tube and they look amazing! We're having a night out at the end of September to check them out! We can't wait!!

The 4 piece band we are getting are in the Midlands and cost £1100 but they aren't a soul band so not sure how much of a difference this makes.

I think like AJ said, this amount is shared between the 8 of them and if they are having to travel then that price does seem pretty reasonable. Go for it Smiley winking

We paid rates mate of £1000 for 8 piece soul band including a engineer and dj service. They were amazing and it really made the wedding for us so many guests stayed all night. we should have had 2 x 1 hr sets, but they only had a 30min break between 8.00 and 11.30. Afraid we were essex so cant recommend!

We finally found one and it cost approx £1600.. totally worth it IMO and all our guests the dance floor was full all night!? If you want there details let me know!
