London Dress shopping worries!

Cazzibear, 17 April, 2012 at 21:59 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi ladies,

Im going dress shopping for the first time next week in London, but I'm so worried that there will not be any dresses I can try on. I'm a size 16/18 (18's only really due to my tummy bit/hips) lol but I have no idea what to expect in terms of sizing, I don't consider myself particulary overweight really...

If it helps Im booked into mirror mirror and Losners in north London.

How has everyone else's experiences been at my kinda size?

    Hey

Please don't stress it really is great fun! I'm a size 16 & yes most of the dresses were a size 10/12. What they tend to do (or did) where I went was put a panel at the back of the dress & they pin you in! You then sort of get the idea! The dress I went for was a size 8 in the shop!!!!

Also let the people in the shop help you choose a dress as the dress I went for I would never have gone for in a million years, as I didn't think it would suit me.

Again just have fun & take 2 people you trust

Keeps us updated & flashes if poss xxx

I went to this one Smiley smile

They have a good range, as the above poster said - I recall that more of them are size 10-12 but they pull you into them well so you get the right idea about how the dress will look on you.

One thing about Lozners, you have to be quite firm about getting the correct dress style/name from them. I asked for this and was given the shop's own 'name' for the dress so when I went to look for them online, I couldn't find them. This was disappointing as I had wanted to email pictures to my mum. I'd told the shop this as well, so I was annoyed that they were disingenuous about it.

Thanks girls, made me feel so much better already, i had a bit of a moment last night worrying about it all and convinced they will treat me differently than to a skinny size 8 lol. Fingers crossed they will be alright.

Also ill take note of the lozners dress naming, thats a bit weird. If i do find the one though I deff wanna know what it is.

Will be giving lots of flashes dont worry - ive been idle for a year or so but its a year to go so kick started myself again! woop!

    Hi there!

I went to both of the Mirror Mirror shops (Islington and Crouch End) and the ladies there were amazing. They were by far the most knowledgeable and friendly that I came across in the 7 shops I went to. You needn't have any worries at all.

Which of their stores are you going to? I would recommend going to both as they have completely different dresses in the 2 shops.

I'm going to the crouch end store (to avoid the £20 fee!)

Cool cool sounds goods then, certainly put my mind at rest. Any other shop reccomendations?
