Hmm...if it was me and i have to choose, it would be Disneyland Paris, its amazing!!

You could always go to Ireland, Barcelona, a nice cottage somewhere in the Uk.....

We went to bruge for a weekend that was nice and just the right amount to do to occupy a couple of days and not feel like you are missing out! I can recommend an amazing B&B if u go there! x

I've always loved the look of Prague. Part of me fancies swanning around Monte Carlo or somewhere posh for a couple of days but suspect I'm far too scruffy to even be allowed in. Also like the idea of cycling around Amsterdam (although I'd be exhausted after 20 minutes I'm sure and the vision of serenly pedalling across an old cobbled bridge with tulips in my bicycle basket is far more romantic than the reality of me, beetroot-faced yelling at H to slow down a bit!)

Are you a city break, museum and sightseeing type person or more of a sun and beach worshipper? Maybe water-sporty type place, or a spa?

My choice would be Portugal. Not too far that you waste half the weekend travelling, good weather (hopefully), nice place, lovely people and apparently is getting cheaper.

Monte Carlo is amazing! We went there when i went for a family holiday to a little place just down the road from St Tropez, Monaco is a lovely place, and we certainly are not posh and can be sometimes cruffy lol.

We did Prague in Jan for my OHs 30th. It was freezing, deep snow and amazing! The snow made it even better! We spent 4 days wondering round basically walking the map! We had lovely meals (garlic soup is fab!) and lots of hot chocolate! (I doubt you'd need these this time of year!). I would do it! Can I also recommend our hotel, hotel Roma, it wasn't in the center, about 5 min walk, but it wasn't in the middle of nowhere either. Fab location just out of the noise! It had a fish tank in the foyer with a shark! Very good value too. Let me know if you want more details.

We might go back to berlin........ i cant go anywhere hot - like greece - as I am allergic to UV and strong sunlight...honeymoon was miserable! I've always fancied Bruge, OH think its really touristy since the film (???????) well duh! Prague, went there in 91, brother was there last year and said it had gone all very cosmopolitan.... ok, i'll keep thinking about it, thank you!

    Hey Tee Hee

What about Munich - I went there last month with friends and it was lovely. We also went on a day trip to Salzburg on the train which was really cheap and Salzburg was lovely.

Rome is also cool but you won't be able to see everything on a weekend. Prague is amazing - tho it's been a long while since I went there.

Or Cornwall? If you get good weather it's a lovely place to go.

Munich - hmmm..... might mention that. Hubbys not interested in UK holidays, he finds them stressful and the weathers not good enough lolol..... the amount of times i've suggested going somewhere on the west coast and he says no! lol...

Berlin fascinates us coz of the ww2 stuffs of course but im sure munich would offer similar...

    thanks!

Munich was really lovely - I was surprised, though I'm not sure why. I think it's because I didn't know what to expect. We had fab weather at the end of May though I had to cut the weekend short due to the strikes at heathrow (grrrrrrr)

Ahhh yes WW2, wouldn't really know what was on offer in that respect - you'll have a better idea I expect Smiley smile

Happy anniversary btw for the 18th Smiley smile

I would rate the following as great places for a weekend away, (avoiding somewhere too sunny or where you've been before)

    Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Epernay.

Lots to consider. Our first holiday away together was 3 nights in Salzburg followed by a train through the mountains to Vienna. Was beautiful. Lovely people. Epernay is fantastic (the Champagne region), most of the German cities are ace too.

Thank you NB, yes we have talked about Normandy lots, plus he would like to tie it in with a cheese n wine fest. Iceland isnt his thing, too cold lolol.. typical that I should marry a red head who likes warm places.... he suggested marrakesh initially but I said nahhhhh,, id prolly melt, lol. Appreciate all your ideas though.

I preferred Budapest to Prague tbh, but people *do* love Prague, so it's prob just me being weird.

Bruges is ok, but it is VERY touristy - 90% of people will be speaking English. I think Ghent and Antwerp are both quite fun if you were fancying Belgium. Both of them are less than an hour by train from Bruxelles-Midi/Zuid.

Loved Bruges - great for wondering around and easy to navigate.

Paris is one of my all time favourite cities and would go back there any day....same with Venice.

Friend just went to Berlin and really faved about it - said it was chic and fantastic.

Istanbul will probably be too hot for you at the moment, but out of summer season, then its a winner.

You could go to New York, Boston or Toronto if you didnt mind the flying time.

If you really could jiggle the flights, then Bangkok or Hong Kong, but they are probably too far for you to think about.

My friend loved Malta and is looking to go and live there.

I fancy Norway, Iceland or a touring holiday of the Highlands of Scotland as I tend to go to the same little bit and really want to see the rest.
