Lunch suggestions

Cookie Galore, 27 July, 2010 at 13:52 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 7

I have just eaten the most enormous lunch of Ryvita and cottage cheese, carrot sticks and humous, grapes, blueberries and an apple and am absolutely stuffed! It's probably about 3 times higher in calories than my usual box of leaves but I just couldn't face another day on salad for lunch! So can anyone suggest any mega low fat/calorie lunches than can be prepared and eaten al desko? I do have access to a microwave but it's three floors down so a bit of a pain to use.

How about fruit salad? I have a whole melon (yes a whole honeydew!) and a couple of slices of prosciuto ham most days. Melon is very low in calories, a whole melon is about 120-150. Melon, grapes, apples, pears, mangoes, papayas, cherries, strawberries and raspberries (or any berries) can be mixed in any combination for variety. Bananas and avocados are the ones to avoid.

Will your diet plan allow for something like a pasta salad? How about filling a pitta with prawn cocktail? Or mushrooms?

I swear by soup for lunch if I'm trying to lose some weight. I usually go for a tin of Baxters and I've done WW in the past so still think in terms of points. There are a good number of varieties that are literally just 2 or 3 points for a 400g can of soup. I heat it before going to work and take a flask. The soup teamed with a small fruit salad is filling and low cal/ fat and not to mention a fairly cheap meal!

Only just come back to this (sorry jude I didn't mean to ignore your response!). Some great suggestions thank you - think soup and lots of fruit might be the way to go.

If it happened again, you can manage by reducing the meal of your lunch/dinner.

Hi AlmostMrsP. Actually, I always try to have a bigger meal at lunch and I save the leaves for dinner - I find that I'm much less tempted to snack in the afternoon and evening if I had something good for lunch. Sometimes I have chicken or a fish or a light pasta with vegetables. Even since I switched I feel like I have a lot more control over temptations.

If you are following a diet that you think is torture eating tasteless food, I dont think it will be effective in the long run. Go for a diet that clearly states what are the fat foods and what foods help to get the fat off without suffering .

Absolutely you are right! Better to do this things and to follow the right diet. Thanks andrea for the ideas.

For lunch I love soup. I think that fruit salad would also be healthy and not fattening.
