Make up DIY - Concealing eyebags. What products and how?

Lillibet, 13 June, 2011 at 14:04 Posted on Planning 0 37

Afternoon ladies!

So after a very productive shopping weekend, I have found my foundation for the wedding (and forever after that, its that good). Went for Estee Lauder Double Wear in the end, and it is the best foundation I've ever used so very chuffed with it!

But, it still doesn't cover my eyebags (not like saggy or puffy or anything, just a bit purple ? iyswim) so need some extra help please. I'm looking for recommendations of eye creams that really work to reduce the colour, and also concealers/ other products.

I've tried a cheaper version of touche eclat which is ok, but I don't really want any illuminating make up as I don't want glowing eyes in the photos!

Does anyone else have a similar problem and any recommendations how to conceal them?

I find Benefit Boi ing is better for dark circles and it comes in a light colour as well. Erase Paste is better for blemishes. Not that I have any of course.....

For mine I use bobbi brown colur corrector to nutralise the colour then their concealor over the top and it works really well, I wouldnt use touche eclait as it is light reflecting and can look really obvious and light in pictures

I had a feeling Bobbi Brown would come up ? Its the one brand I really want to try but there's no counter anywhere near me - Well annoying! So might start with Benefit and see how I get on with that and treat myself to some BB next time I'm in London.

    Thanks girls!

Sorry to hijack but I am having the exact same problem.

No 7 concealer hasn't worked out for my under eye shadows. Benefit High beam just makes them glow!

I agree, touche eclait is a load of touche ecrap! What a waste of money that was.

Naboo and Trickers, which Bobbi Brown concealer do you use? I love BB products but their choice of concealers confuses me.

is that the one with the concealor and the powder? if so that is what I have too and it is worth the money and lasts ages. I have had mine 2 months and been using it as well as under eyes on a massive scar where I burnt myself so used loads more than I would usually and there seems to be hardly any gone, I use it with a concealor brush and find it stops me wasting any

I can't suggest any kind of cosmetics for this as i don't suffer from dark circles, but i thought you might like to take a look at this link. maybe there's another way as well as finding the right cover?

    xx

Thanks both, I will have a look.

For puffiness I have always been told cucumber slices or teabags, plus dirnking plenty of water!

Th garnier one is quite good but I do like Touche eclat. I didn't realise about the photos though. I got sucked in with erase paste and don't like it at all it is too thick !

I just bought Clinique 'it's all about eyes' concealer (it is a range for eyes, so if you do order it make sure you specify the concealer rather than ending up with any of the other products).

I think it's amazing but I love Clinique face products - their three step routine is brilliant

I know Mooey - the Benefit counter lady actually told me to use it on dark shadows as it would reflect light off them making them appear brighter! Tosh.

This thread has made me realise I need to go make up shopping and spend some decent money.

I am wearing rubbish maybeline stuff at the moment and it really isnt any good.

Wish I could find MAC or Bobbie Brown near me

I love MAC concealer. Think it's the studio fix one but not sure. The Laura Mercier concealers are supposed to be amezzin.

Bicester village is about 15 mins away, but pretty rubbish for cosmetics when I have been there.

Westfield in london is reachable in abou 40 mins. Would be a good shout, but I get ever so tempted by all the other wonderful shops and find it hard not to go mad! Smiley laugh

I have just finished my first Clinique pen! (looks like the touché éclat one) and I think it's really good. I have touché éclat but never know where to put it! It doesn't work too well on under eyes in my opinion. But I have always had quite prominent darkness under my eyes :-( Water is the best remedy!

Touche eclat is too reflective for under the eyes in photos. I use MAC concealer under the eyes and then use touche eclat over that to highlight the outer edges.

I get my eyebrows waxed at the Benefit counter in the local Debenhams, the last time I had them done the woman who was doing them said the same thing to me. I love Benefit products and normally find their staff know what they are talking about and give good advice - I've got no idea where they've picked up this daft idea though!

I use a MAC concealer, think it's a Studio Fix and I find it really good. When I'm having a REALLY bad day, I put a bit of the Bare Minerals Well Rested powder on top of it. Got that in a starter kit though, so probably won't bother replacing it when it runs out.
